'American Idol': On to the next

**SPOILER ALERT: This blog entry reveals the name of the contestant leaving the show. Do not continue reading if you do not want to know the results.**

And then there were nine.

I had some rough moments there when they announced the bottom two. I was prepared for the first shocking upset of the season, but thankfully cooler heads prevailed, and ...

... Michael Sarver did not make the cut.

So what did you think? How were the performances? Were you as stunned as I was at the bottom two?

The bottom two should have been Michael and that Blonde who can't sing at all.

Matt in the botoom three was shocking, I don't think anyone saw that coming. What does Megan need to do to get into the bottom three!? I mean, why is she still around? The blind dude is still because of Pity Points I'm sure of it, which is fine at least he play piano, sing, and does it without sight!! That deserves something. Adam is only competing with himself and Danny, Matt and Allison are competing for my opinion. The rest are filling up space.

I'm going to make a prediction: Adam will be the next American Idol.
I think he absolutely personifies todays culture in being hip!! He really delivers a first class performance each week. The ones who are being eliminated really are not up to the par, so far.
I have watched all seasons of American Idol and have picked all the winners except Ruben, I preferred Clay Akien, which I still think was the best. I do love the show, it is such a launching pad for our talented youth.
My only negative comment is: Get rid of the 3rd judge, totally not needed in my opinion.

I love American Idol so here are my comments on the following.
Kris Allen-Is my favorite. Very good singer. Very original
Scott-Is another one of my favorites. He's very talented.
Adam-Is awesome, again another one of my favorites.
Michael Sarver-So glad he was voted off.
Matt-Just another Justin Timberlake (we dont need another one of those).
Anoop-He's good, but not my favorite.
    Megan-Needs to go home.
Allison-Another Avril? Nope we have one.
Danny Gokey-Can you say Taylor Hicks? Didn't like that guy either. He also needs to go. One is enough.

    Enough said.

I'm sorry that Danny lost his wife. I'm sorry that Megan, though a great beauty can't sing any better than she has so far. I'm sorry that Scott has trouble seeing and I mean all this from the bottom of my heart.

Now, with that all said...I think the most brilliant "singer" on Idol this year is without a doubt Adam. Kris is an excellent jazz singer and Allison is a gifted singer as well. Matt does some good original work with his song choices, and Lil' Rounds has a powerful voice, though shows she is often inept at choosing the right song to showcase her powerful voice. Danny never messes up, but so far hasn't shown that he is able to select a song that shows off his voice or aiblity to be original. Anoop has a pleasant enough voice and sings some pretty ballads. That leaves Scott and Megan as the next 2 who should go. They are probably lovely people, but their singing abilities are not in the same league with any of the other contestants.

No bull...No bias...I just believe in cutting to the chase.

What about Adam?! Why do I feel like I am the only one who understands how awful he really is? I guess there is some dramatic talent there...but come on..who is going to buy his album??
Michael isn't my favorite, but he sure tried hard and looked like he enjoyed his opportunity to be there on the AI stage!

Megan, Scott, Michael – bottom 3! My pick for the top five – Adam, Anoop,
Alison, Danny, ( and either Matt or Ricky Braddy). Goes to show – as Jackson Brown once said "that its who you look like – not who you are".

I also cannot believe that Matt was in the bottom 3!! Of course, I really like Michael too, so I was upset that he was there! And even more upset that he was eliminated last night!! But Scott cannot sing!!! I’m sorry he’s blind, but that doesn’t mean we have to keep him on the show! He should have been the one to leave last night. Megan is a beautiful girl, but I’m not sure that she will make it very much further – she is very robotic and all her songs sound the same! I do think a lot of people base their voting on the singer’s popularity, looks, and their sad stories! And even though Danny has a sad story, I really do like his voice and presence!! Adam, Kris and Allison are very good. Adam needs to lose the black nail polish though! Anoop is okay, but not great. In my opinion, he should go home next! But, so far this season, I think Lil is the best!!!

ALEXIS GRACE should have been stayed. She has the star quality. Believe me folks, in the next 2-year – she could be the next Jeniffer Hudson. Hopefully Alexis makes it, and let Americon Idol sucks their own lame producers and ridiculous foursome judges.

This season (since Alexis has gone), MATT should be the clear winner because he brings uniqueness and new talent to the show (soulful, pianist, can sing and diverse).

Scott-the-blind-guy is SO LAME, he should go next. Anoop will go soon because he is carrying the hype over the Oscar winning movie (Slamdog Milinionnare), and the hype is about over. Lil is always forgettable in most of her performances.

If MATT doesn't win, than it is AI's loss!

Meghan & Scott get your bags packed, you're next on the Idol Chopping Block. After that it comes down to Chris, Allison and Matt/Lil, in that order. The final should be between Adam, Danny and 3rd poss Matt/ Lil. But we ALL should know the Producers have the final say and do like to shake it up so we keep talking.

They should change the format and instead of calling for who should stay, you would call to say who should go. This approach would likely help ensure that the worst of the week would go and eliminate the power of "goof" groups who concentrate on voting for the worse just to annoy the rest of us.

I think Michael was the right choice to go home – he's a pretty boy & he sure can sing, but I think America voted the way it should go. He was boring in comparison to the others (his style/voice). He was not anything unique. For the sake of the "unique" argument, Scott definitely deserves more credit – yes, he's blind, but he's ridiculous on the piano! And needless to day, he can carry a tune! Who cares if his vocals aren't like Lil's? He's got what it takes. Also, if you really think about it, he has to learn the words AND the notes for the piano to each song by hearing them (or from braille, but I doubt it). I mean, think of the others whose vocals aren't much to talk about but are legends in the music business...musicians like Elton John, obviously Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel (come on, his voice isn't THAT great), Ray Charles...etc.

I believe Adam could be the next Elvis, if he puts forth the effort, which he is giving 100% of himself in the show it seems. Not that he wants to be compared to Elvis, we don't know if he wants that, but he has that mysterious and sexy appeal to him. And the great thing about Adam is that he isn't at all obnoxious and seems to adapt to different song styles very well. Does anyone out there think Adam sounds a little like Axle Rose of Guns and Roses? Theres not many singers that have that voice quality that can go from soft to belting it out.

I listened to Lisa Respers Frances report and just had to comment.

On what planet should Megan go home before Scott? It is not that Megan is lovely, it is that many of us like her style in spite of the fact that she had a bad night. Several of the contestants had a bad night... Lil, Megan, Anoop all performed under their acutal abilities in my opinion.

Then there are those who performed just as well as they ever have or ever WILL and it just isnt good enough. Those people are Scott and Michael. They are never going to win this contest. I am glad we got rid of Michael and cannot wait to see Scott leave that stage. Megan should be around until after that happens, and not because of her looks.

Oh come one people. Meagan has a great voice. She's quirky and has that old fashioned jazz tremelo in her voice. She just doesn't have what it takes to win this show. It's definitely between Adam, Allison, Danny and Lil for the top though. I can't put my finger on it, but I just don't like Matt. He seems like the kind of guy you'd avoid. Scott needs to go, as do Meagan and the other little guy that twists his mouth when he sings. The judges won't use the vote to save anybody unless its a big shocker vote.

Seriously? My husband (a singer) and I have argued each week regarding Adam. He thinks he is the greatest. me on the other hand.....He did do a wonderful job this week and I give him props for his arrangement. But, if you go back and look at his past performances (Rolling Stones, Ring of Fire....) His screaching and dramatics are sooooo obnoxious and the source of Americans thinking he is so different. This kid has already been on stage, musicals and whatnot. Yes, he does have "the look" and yes he is VERY dramatic and confident, but his work on stage in the past and singing in the spotlight for years would give anyone that sort of persona. Let the raw talent who hasn't had the opportunity or learning experiences have thier chance too.

We have to remember the Judges themselves did not save Alexis, although they should have because she would have been in the top 5 easily. Other contestants have had bad weeks and they get through. The only thing she did not to get saved was to say Joelene's name incorrectly. seems a petty thing to send her home for. The real question the Judges have to ask themselves is of all the contestants who do they think is worthy enough to want to save their "save" for and when. it doesn't always go the way they think and it may come to a point where they have wasted their save on someone not worth it even to themselves. oh and megan would be somewhere between chris and matt tying with scott.

    Hi there David McPartland:

Please forgive me, but while I agree with you 1,000% that Carol King, Stevie Nicks, Gwen Stefanie, Janice Joplin all unique singers, in fact they were phenomenal, I doubt anyone hearing them today would say that they're off key. In fact.. do you remember Maria Muldaur?? She sang "Midnight At the Oasis." Her voice is close to what Megan's aspires to be... but Maria was so cool to listen to, and I'm sorry, in my opinion Megan doesn't even come close.

They are ALL pretty good, (Adam is my favorite) but please do not reference Scott as "the blind guy". Think, if this was your brother or husband, or someone close to you that you love, you would not appreciate him being referred to as the blind guy. He has had alot of struggles in his life and should be getting respect. He may not be the best of the singers, but his courage and bravery deserve respect from America.

I did like Matt's performance as well, but this was the first time I remembered him. The past couple of weeks I forgot him seconds after seeing it. I don't think he has the fan base many seem to think he has. I was fine with Michael going home this week – he was going this week or next anyway. Though I would have preferred Megan. Yes, she's got a quirky thing going on but at this point she seems to think that is all she needs to do. Her fans will vote anyway.

By far, Adam is the most talented vocalist the show has ever seen. He's got the vocal chops – the range is outstanding. But even more important, he's got the guts to mix things up. The win by David Cook last year (by an insane margin of votes no less), proved the fans want someone willing to take risks. None of the other singers have a chance at winning AI unless they start taking risks. Megan is taking risks, but she doesn't have the vocal chops to pull it off. Allison has some great vocal chops, pretty darn close to Adam though in a different style, but she's not risky enough. But she's going to have one heck of a career post Idol. Danny has some great vocals, but no risks and he is starting to become not memorable. The other guys aren't memorable. Lil doesn't have much of a shot either. This was her week – she should have been phenomenal at Motown week. And instead she was more concerned with showing homage to the Vandellas than showcasing herself.

Adam is going to win Idol easily – probably by a bigger margin than David Cook last year if he is up against anyone but Allison If Allison is in the top 2 with him, he will still win but the margin will be closer.

They actually make a good couple...She is so sweet and he is so sarcastic, but I think they balance eachother nicely/....Why don't they give it a try...she seems to soften him a bit. It adds another diminision to the drama. David Cook was recently booked at FSU's club Downunder. It was sold out and nobody I knew had access to comps. I heard the show was amazing and should have been held in a larger venue. Tallahassee is short on those.

Don't be too bummed-out about the experience that Adam already has. Remember that in past seasons the competitors have included other failed recording artists and showfolk. Broadway and Off-Broadway have suffered terribly in this economy with good shows closing left and right. Shows that otherwise may have seen a limited run, aren't even opening. Usually there are are a lot of out-of-work actors/performers: it's the nature of the profession. Now, however, even those actors who have already achieved solid status are scrambling for work.

Everybody seems to want to know why Matt was at the bottom?, well it's because he is not original, he is Justin Timberlakes clone, been there done that and there are 20 more boy band types just like him. American Idol is about artistry and originality and thats why Megan is still there (her looks help too) and she can sing, just because she is not the orthodoxed style of singer we are all use to hearing on the radio does not mean she is a lousy singer, look at Carol King, Stevie Nicks, Gwen Stefanie, Janice Joplin all unique singers with there own style and if the younger generation heard them today they would say they were "Off – Key"? Think about it. I will take someone with something new to offer over " been there done that" non-original any day.

Regardless of where she finishes in this competition, don't let an ill-advised tattoo, poor vocal timing, pitch problems and general dorkiness blind you to the allure of her unique vocals, quirky beauty and look-you-straight-in-the-eye confidence. Yes, Megan was off-key this week but if you listen to the clip of her rehearsing by the piano with Smokey she has an amazing and very unique, jazzy voice. I think she just feels the need to sing louder when she's on stage (or maybe it's nerves), and she just loses the notes when she stresses her voice too much.

I think next week she should have a simple arrangement, like just piano or guitar, and keep it mellow instead of trying to sing over so many instruments. For those of you who think she's an awful singer, listen to her audition on YouTube. It was flawless.

Personally, I think she is a great singer and voted for her because she is talented and interesting to listen to and I would definitely buy her CD. This is the first time I have been this interested in American Idol because Megan's style of music is almost never represented on the show, and I hope she gets the chance to stay and improve singing in front of a crowd. Her music is not for everyone and it seems to evoke strong feelings either way, but know that some of us do really enjoy her music.

    Just my two cents!

I have to say I am pretty over American Idol right now. Yesterday I decided to YouTube Adam Lambert's performance from Tuesday night, and instead found his many appearances on Broadway and other off Broadway but still professional shows. Isn't AI supposed to be about finding true 'raw talent', and not polished young professionals who have already been where so many hope to be? The whole thing is so contrived now that I can't stand to watch. Not to mention the Simon/Paula hijinks are pretty over the top. I seriously hope this is the last season. Meanwhile, where is David Cook now? Do you EVER hear or see him anywhere outside of the L.A. area?

I'm truly baffled by this week's results. I'm sorry, but Scott, although I like you well enough.. you should have been in the bottom 3; and Megan...

MEGAN, MEGAN, MEGAN, This week is the 2nd time you've damn near made my ears bleed. You sharp notes are too sharp, your flat notes so flat they thud. The quality in your voice that Simon is trying to shove down America's throats was on much better display when Joss Stone sang. She has some of that quality... but here's the difference.... its actually pleasant to hear. There is a quirky tone to Megan's voice I can listen to an appreciate, however, it is limited and overall the quirkiness is, simply put, too harsh, unpleasant, and actually painful to listen to.

Performance wise, I think Megan's beautiful (facially), but watching her is like watching Joe Cocker slimmed down and in a dress.

Only one person wins this show but it only seems right that those exiting the show exit in fashion based on least talented going first. Megan and Scott are the least talented at this point. Megan has an odd rhythm even with her singing . She is terrible. And as far as commercial appeal – no Idol except Kelly Clarkson has ever had any real commercial appeal and I doubt the winner of this show will . Look at the top of the billboard charts over the last few years very few rockers or indie type artist have appeal these days . Yet Idol seems to be fascinated by these types the last few seasons becasue they are the anti black artist and they keep saying to these rockers that you can have a #1 right now – no they can't. Adam is not going to be music superstar. David Cook is not going to be a music superstar. Who are the music superstars today and tell me how Cook or Adam fit in with that .

At least two (Megan – should not even be in top 15, and Scott) should have gone before Michael. I hope he doesn't have to return to the rough neck field – not that it bad, but he can sing. He just has to find the right songs like he did for his audition. And it is way too early for the judges to use their trump card but they might have used it if Matt was the bottom person.

Uhm. Michael TOTALLY deserved to go home last night! Although my bottom three were Scott, MEGAN and michael, I totally expected Michael to go home before Megan. I believe Megan will go home next week, followed after Scott. Megan is different, but not what an 'American Idol' should be. And Scott is just plain boring. He is not interesting and I hate watching him perform.

My final three? Adam Allison and Danny. Matt Girard is Dannys' biggest competition, but we already have a Justin Timberlake/Michael Buble/Robin Thicke type of person. We don't need another one. =) Allison is KILLER, that voice coming out of a girl that young? And then Adam is just your heart throb punk rock band boy.

Okay....this is not a competition where we are trying to find an "Idol" for all America to worship. Let's get that straight. People. This. Is. A. Singing Competition!!! That is what we are voting for. If I want to find an "idol" I surely wouldn't be watching a bunch of young adults compete on a tv reality show vying for the top spot! So let's get to the nitty-gritty....Adam IS the BEST EVER on American Idol. EVER! He SHOULD win hands down.

So what the hell are idol fans thinking? Matt in the bottom three? Come on give me a break, this guy is really good! And then there is the tattoo chick. What the hell is she doing still around, I don't know, she can't sing worth a sh..!!

I think were in for some suprises over the next few weeks, but I guess that is what makes this show so interesting. If you don't have the time to watch idol.......don't worry, you will read about Adam winning the whole thing in about 2 months.

I was not shocked about Michael Sarver...I was more shocked that Scott and Matt were in the bottom 3. Michael sang good about 3 performances ago but he wasn't that good at all at Country week and last week. America got it right but it really should have been Megan up there instead of Scott. Her time is coming though cause I agree with Simon 100%, she hasn't been choosing the right songs. Her voice is terrible as well. I think the only reason why she keeps getting by is because of her being eye candy....being pretty and blonde has it's advantages I guess  I guess if I had a beef about the bottom 3 it should have been Anoop or Kris along with Michael and Megan. That would have been my bottom 3....

Megan Joy by FAR was the worst performer and deserved to be in the bottom three. I dont think matt has generated a following bc he wasnt featured early on as so many of the others were. Scott and Megan Joy (in no particular order) should be the next two to leave. Scott really has to raise his game in order to stay.

Here is the problem with this show. You have people that like rock, pop, country, r&b etc. So those fans pick their favorite singer of that type and the majority of people don't vote for every contestant, just 1 or 2. There are quite a few people that would fall into Matt's category so hes not getting votes because hes not their favorite, even though hes better than a lot of the other people. Then you have to factor in that hes a just another white guy on the show so he doesn't have one of those extra things, like being blind or a hot girl that gets him the extra votes.

This voting for your favorite nonsense is what allows the wrong person to be sent home. Why don't they change it to be voting for the person who was the worst? Single out the weak links. This isn't an election. We're not voting for one person to make it through. We're voting to send one person home. I can tell you each week who I think should go home. But if I were to vote for all the people I thought should stay, well, it would be a lot more work on my part. Maybe that's what America does, and why Fox loves to tout their 30-million plus vote results. I don't care if 30 million or 300 hundred people voted. I hate seeing the wrong person kicked off due to non-linear, indirect voting results.

Wednesday evening we said "the fix is in" after hearing comments of so called Judges about the Oil Rigger who san good.
The blond Megan is one of the worst singers we've ever heard. When the Oil Rigger was beat up I knew the fix was in to get America to remove him so they could keep Megan. She is prettier and Simon likes her – IT IS ABOUT RATINGS FOLKS.
I'm also wondering if they are lying about the results. The Reality Shows are scripted and fixed for the most part, and Am Idol is the only one we ill watch for that reason. It's in the same boat I'm afraid.

I think its funny how much everyone loves Adam. I think he is a great singer, and he is a showman, but lets be honest, I would turn the radio if all I heard was his voice. He is kind of like Taylor Hicks, Ruben, Blake Lewis (though he did not win). They are all fun to just watch... but if you are looking for actual star quality, someone who will make it out of the gate, it is clear that Adam belongs on Broadway, and Allison or Matt belong as the American Idol.

Allison can sing, she has the look, she will make it even without American Idol.

Matt has the sex appeal, and can sing with a different style.

But who knows... I just think its funny how all these people vote for a showman, but never buy their records.

I am not surprised at the results. Megan is not terrible, she is original and has her own style, those of us older than dirt may remember a time when her jazzy style of singing was the norm and very popular. She is not a terrible singer for those who have a trained ear for her style of vocal, plus she is soooo cute. Micheal could not sing out of his country genre, and I even think he knew his time was up and out of his league. Matt does not impress me, he would be a good fit for the lead singer spot in the boy band NSYNC (hence J.T's Clone). Kris is a Dave Mathews wanna be. Scott has real talent and has an impairment too boot and he works twice as hard as everyone else, got to give him credit, it can't be easy. I am not sure why any one would demean Danny, he does have a sob story, but he is not relying on that to get him through the competition, this man has raw talent and can sing his but off and is very entertaining to watch. Adam and Danny could cut a record right now. Lil Rounds is awesome and reminds me of Roberta Flack, mixed with Aretha Franklin (although no where near the diva status of Aretha). Allison--oh, Allison-Dynamite!!! I think Anoop's clean cut image and lack of performance will get him ousted within the next two weeks, he is too plain and you have to ask yourself would you really go out and buy his CD if he cut one?, I wouldn't.

i think the reason megan is still on is because she is DIFFERENT from everyone else. with the exception of Adam all the guys sound alike and there is a need for there to be females in the competition. she also probably benefitted from alexis' exit and got the cute, sexy torch song blonde vote. she was terrible last night, but much like when mandisa (sp) lost because of country week, motown was not going to be her strong suit. it's all been about song choice for her and i agree with simon that whoever is advising her ... When it comes to voting, it is much a popularity content as a singing contest . However I don’t think any of this week’s bottom 3 had any chance of winning.

Winning AI usually requires a combination of singing ability, appearance/personality, and stage presence. Adam, Danny, Kris, Lil and Allison have reasonable amounts of each. Anoop, Megan, Matt, and Scott are more lacking in one or more of those areas.

I agree with weezer as I blogged on another CNN AI section it is the whole package and fans make an artist. We buy their music, go to their concerts etc.. Not all successful artists have great voices! Also everyone has different tastes in music the winner should be the whole package and not one – dimensional.

It's still at the stage where there are people who have different tastes in music. When you have Matt and Danny who are similar the votes will be split, making them more likely to end up in the bottom, whereas people like Megan, Scott, and Michael are the only ones reflecting their style of music so even though people might not like it, they get all the votes for that style.
I think Scott is boring. Michael was kind of generic. Danny is a stronger version of Matt. Megan has a 1940's style of voice, reminiscent of USO performers of that day and age as far as tone. She's also unique and faces a challenge of finding songs each week that are adaptable to her voice, but I admit her choice wasn't very good this week. I would like to see her do an adaptation of something like Fleetwood Mac type songs. She is a curiosity and different.
Anoop is rather boring and hasn't had any energy in his songs. What was that other guy who played the guitar? I thought he was rather generic as well.
For now, being different is enough. In the end, different isn't going to be good enough and I think all three of them will be eliminated and it will come down to Adam and Danny.

Lil and Adam think they have already won. You can tell in every mannerism they think they have won. This will bite them in the butt if they aren't careful.

Lil will never win, she yells every song and her cockiness will be her demise.

Adam could win but he'd probably be better off if he didn't.

Matt won't win either and he is COMPLETELY better off if he didn't. If he makes it to the top 5 every week on top of that is just a little more exposure for when he gets picked up for a record deal.

I think Kris will win, not the best singer, but good and the young girls like him and really they are the one's that tip the scales when it comes to mass voting.

Kara repeatedly said the judges are looking for "artistry" – original interpretations of the songs. Adam did exactly that. Last week and this week. Ring of Fire was totally original. Some like it, some don't. But it WAS original. This week he did Tracks of My Tears. Again – totally original. Like it or not.

He is EASILY the best vocalist up there, and obviously the most interesting performer. That's not opinion. I may or may not like his music or his personality. But facts are facts – he hasn't made a vocal mistake yet. He's flawless. Never flat. Never off-pitch. Never wrong key. Never wrong tempo. He's singing notes the other guys can't even attempt. It's really interesting to hear him sing.

Throw out all your preconceptions about his appearance or demeanor. Through out all your opinions about his personality. Just listen to the performances with the video off as if you were listening to the radio. Adam's singing is freakishly good.

I think what you are going to see this year is a dark horse winner. Sort of a repeat of Jordan Sparks. I think Kris is going to win Idol – he has been consistent and remains true to himself and his music. He has the look of an Idol and I'm sure can be successful.

As for Adam – I think that he believes he's already won. I don't care for his antics at all.

And, I hope we don't have to hear anymore of the Danny sob story.

Megan and Scott have no business being in the top 9 either.

If Megan is the worst this year, then it's a good year. She's not great but not really all that horrible. Michael was OK, but I never really thought he was as great as the judges said. He's just OK I'm glad his kid gets him back sooner than later because he would not have won anyway.
I like Allison. She really needs to change her look (and pick a new hair color) because her silly look is what's holding her back. She needs some serious hair not pink, that look is not in anymore. She sings the best and is being overlooked because she doesn't have the stand-out look of some of the others – like Megan. Allison needs to "pretty up" she is a cute kid but is not using it to her advantage. She has yet to give us a bad performance – always sings great and performs as well. Adam gets a little weird for my taste, but he in the top 2 for me. Not sure I have a 3rd. Lil is being too ordinary. She needs to step it up a bit. She can sing, but she needs to show that she won't be the 'same-ol same-ol" and boring.

Tough break for Michael. He's very much "likeable" as the judges said and it looks like the judges had a hard time deciding on whether to spare Michael another chance.
The competition is so tough this year...I have to agree with most of the opinions expressed thus far...Scott, Megan and Michael aren't talent wise on the same level as the rest. I think Anoop beyond those 3 would be next to go.
Matt was a big surprise...but Allison was a big surprise in the bottom 3 last week. Hard to believe how the voting can go.

I personnally like Danny the best, because I love the raspiness of his voice, however, if any of the five I've named win, I would be satisfied as they are all great.

To me, American Idol means the total package – voice, musical ability, personality, and looks. Adam, in my mind, is the only one there with the total package. He can sing any type of music and make it sound wonderful. I think, in voting, we have to decide if we would buy their CD in the future – I definitely will buy his CD's in the future, and I know he will have a future. I agree with everyone here – Megan needs to go – she should have gone before Michael. I was not totally surprised that Matt was in the bottom three – he has a great voice, but he is soooo boring, he needs to step it up a little. I think people are wrong about Danny and his "sappy" story – he is not using his story here – he just has a fabulous voice and a good personality. Granted Allison has 'good pipes', but I wouldn't buy her CD's – she is just too one dimensional. I think it will, and should, come down to Adam, Allison, and Danny in the end, with, hopefully, Adam winning.

Everyone needs to vote for Matt he has an amazing voice and a real star quality about him. I think he has a very good chance to win, even if he gets beat by Adam he deserves to be in it for the running. Scott and Anoop need to go, they should have been sent home in Hollywood. As far as Megan she has a very unique voice, and i think she is great on stage. She may not be the best, but she is by far not the worst. She desrves to be there, she will find her niche and rock it!

I don't get too concerned over who should go before whom, so long as they send home the right people before we get down to the final 5 or 6. I thought Micheal should've gone in week 1. The other two people I would like to see voted off before then are: Megan, Danny, and Scott.

As to who I really like: Adam, Allison, and Lil.

Oh, on Adam. I am sure country fans hated his performance. When he started off I was thinking 'what the hell...' but as he got going I really loved it!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? The only reason that Scott (the blind guy) is still there is because he's getting a sympathy vote. He is, at best, an ok karaoke singer. He's not even close to being in the same league as everyone else. America, WHAT are you doing? He needs to go before someone who is really good goes home.

I think American Idol should let us vote for the WORST singer not the BEST; therefore, Megan would have left last night. Next week would be Scott, then Michael, etc..... After those three it truly is a toss up and a popularity contest because the rest can all sing REALLY good.

I really felt that Megan should have left the show. She is not a good performer; her moves are irritating and that ugly tatoo takes away from her beauty. Her voice is much worse than Michael. Although I don't think Michael Sarver was the worse this week (I think Megan deserved the honor), he lacks the charisma to make it in the top 5 or so. I think his performance was actually pretty good, considering he is more of a "country" singer. I'm not sure what the right song would have been.

I think this season though... really is unique in having so many standouts. WOW, the talent. Some of the contestants I initially thought were OK, have really stood out in the last couple of weeks, namely Allison, Kris, Matt, and Noope. Allison has been the biggest surprise for me. She has some great vocal chords. Danny, Adam and Lil... are incredible, and have always stood out. I really think it is anyone's game... except Megan. I think she is there still because she has the "pretty" factor for some. I couldn't believe she didn't make even the bottom three. The blind guy (sorry I have lost his name for a moment) is very talented, but I'm just not sure I like him as well as the others.

Ok... I have to say that the fact Megan is still there is rather depressing. Not only is she still there but she wasnt even in the bottom 3. It's not surprising that Michael is gone. He should have been gone last week – and NOT Alexis. Why Megan is still there is anyone's guess...wait, what am I saying? It's because she's cute. But she is truly awful. Smokey Robinson was WAY too kind with some of these kids! Scott included. I'm not a huge Matt fan, but it was a jolt to see him in the bottom three. Just as long as they leave my Danny alone, life will be good! 🙂

I think they need to change the way people vote and have them vote for who should LEAVE the show. That way Megan would surely have left. Either that or change the Judges save to allow the judges to remove someone as well as save in the same week.

Putting Matt in the bottom 3 was ridiculous. I expected to see Michael Sarver, Scott, and Meghan, but not Matt.

Matt is probably the most talented overall musician from singing to playing that AI has had in a long time.

Scott is a talented piano player, but his voice isn't national recording material.

Michael Sarver is the kind of guy we all root for, but his voice is nothing special, which it has to be at this point in the competition. Plus, Michael couldn't seem to shake his blue collar roots in the way he dressed week after week.

And Meghan, while pretty and different, seems to have limited choices of songs in each category that would fit her or that she can perform well. I don't agree with Simon that she is fresh and relevant. She reminds me a little of Maria Muldaur. Unique? Yes. Relevant? Maybe in the 70's or 80's, but not in this day and age when you have to be all things to all people.

Next week, Scott or Meghan goes home.

He plays the piano, but his voice is weak. Can't believe Alexis isn't on Tour while these two are. Also, I can't stand the comment about the runner ups, favorites, etc that go on everytime. It seems the judges want to push ahead a group of people they already decided on it. Wouldn't surprise me if this season is already fixed.

One of the earlier bloggers brought up an excellent point. The whole VOTING METHOD IS WRONG! Just imagine that if all 35 million voters thought that Matt was great but not the best. He would receive no votes, and therefore be voted off. You are voting for the best, but they are using the votes to select the least. We should be voting people off by voting for the worst performer. Then our votes would be used correctly and we would not see Matt at the bottom and Megan still there.

    Megan has tremendous potential.

After the Rolling Stones performed on the Ed Sullivan show, some bigwig with the program said "Get rid of that vile-looking singer with the tire-tread lips."

Megan is an original who needs to get really smart about her song choices. SMALL arrangements (like Adam did this week). Think groovy jazzy vibey. When she tries to belt it out with the big guns, the limitations of her voice become very apparent. But with the right material and production, she could be great.

as far as the Elvis Presley/ Adam Lambert isn't that Kurt Russell/Adam Lambert/Elvis Presley not a bad thing

Actually someone was right when they talked about Adam being fresh and original in his interpretations I have never enjoyed Johnny Cash the way I did when Adam did his interpretation of it and after all didn't we applaud David Cook's "Billy Jean" and Chris Daughtery's rearrangements of nearly everything he did?

Scott Mcintyre does well but he isnt listening to Paula when she tells him to basically speed it up to change it up doesnt mean he has to step away from behind the piano in order to do so. He needs to get his nasty on.

    Chris can sing but BORING

Anoop has talent and i think he is just figuring that out on a performer level at the least I almost think someone dared him to come on AI ......hope he stays.

Kara was right Lil doesn't need to scream (it was Kara right?) She will do well whether she wins or not hope someone is smart enough to give her work

as far as Danny Gokey he didnt hug his so very supportive best friend when he got cut I think his friend could do better. As far as Danny's singing well not as boring as chris but doesnt need to yell like Lil did last night in some parts.

I will not be surprised with just about anyone going. After Red and Black fingernails, they are all fairly even to me. What I don't get is how Megan . . Blond with Tattoo . . stays on. She is clearly the weakest entertainer/singer/performer . . at least to me. Michael's performance was far and away better than hers. Last week . . the Blond lady with pink in her hair . . Way better than the Blond Tattoo.

Doesn't really matter. I think it comes down to Adam and Red with Adam winning . . and Red becoming a recording star we will be hearing on the radio like we hear Underwood. We have some truly great performers, but Adam and Red are the stars . .

Well, I think it will come down to Allison and Adam as the final two, but my money's on Adam. He is clearly an artist – the only one on this season's show with a true command of his instrument, obviously due in large part to the vocal training he has had over the years. On the flip side, Allison has a huge gift; she just needs some training to really hone her natural talent.

But I'm not surprised that Michael was sent home. I only wish he had been sent home last week instead of Alexis. Or rather, I wish Scott had been sent home; it's driving me crazy that none of the judges has yet to address the fact that Scott sings through his nose! He could have a nice voice (not a winning voice, but nice) if he didn't sound so nasal all the time. Not to mention the fact that he keeps choosing feminine songs – what's up with that?? Just because you have a lyric tenor voice doesn't mean you have to sing like a woman! (a nasal woman, that is) I'm also ready for Megan to be gone, and Kris, as sweet as he is, is just a generic, middle-of-the-road talent to win.

I believe Adam, Alison, Matt have the best voices of who's left. I think Kris is good when he sings a slow song-–not particularly pleasant to watch him sing, but last week his voice sounded great. On voting night, I always vote for my favorite however many times I want, then I vote for the people I want to stay in the competition....I give them at least one vote. Alexis should still be in the competition. She didn't have the best week last week, but c'mon people-–she's way better than some who are still in it.

    Adam, Allison/Alyson, top two.

Megan can sing but what i didn't like was when she physically moved Vonnamisha out of the way by grabbing Vonnamisha to the point Vonnamisha almost lost her balance and definitely broke her concentration so megan could get more visual time NOT IDOL material. After all an idol should be someone kids can look up to as they are a large part of the audience and what she did was wrong no matter how small it seems it showed her character.

They should be taking your elbow- not you dragging them across the stage like a child, or pushing them back into their seats like they are lost. Fox/American Idol and Seacrest need some basic training on sighted guide techniques and basic respect for a human being.

I agree with the majority of these comments that Magan should have been LONG GONE. I must add my thoughts about the eventual winner. I'm picking Allison to take it all , with Adam the runner up. Even thou I will probably never ever purchase an Adam CD, I will admit that he has a remarkable future in arranging and interpitation of music. (possibly the Broadway Venue where many of idols contestants have gone) But Allison has such raw God Given powers with her voice, its almost chilling to hear her perform. Getting back to Megan, the Dirty Old Man Judge ( Simon) would probably use the SAVE to keep her around.

Allison and Adam are definitely the two best performers by far. It's a toss up for me as to which should win, but I'm leaning more to Allison. Her voice is deep, rich and unique. She reminds me of Bonny Raitt, but only better!

Why do people love Danny? Well, you obviously haven't seen all the shows. He is doing well for a reason and not just because his story, no matter how 'sappy' you think it is. A lof of contestants have sappy stories, but his is a heart breaker. He can sing, and even when you thought he was yelling it still sounded good. It went with the song he was singing. Perhaps he could have picked a better song to show off his voice, but he does have a great voice. I admit Adam is the best on the show, but I'm not sure I would call him an "American Idol".

There's one girl who always gets the male vote for being the prettiest of the bunch. Any idea who it is? You guessed's Megan. Get use to seeing her for awhile, she could go out and hum a song but as long as she's wearing a revealing outfit, she's going to go through. There were only 3 people who could have left tonight, the rest were safe. And those in danger of going home, were Scott, Meghan, and of course Michael, who was the lowest of them all as we know. Dialidol always gets it right. 🙂

When I see certain ones sent home, I really think it is a contest to see whose friends and relatives can get in the most votes. There have been a number of non-winners who have had more success than the winners.

Who is sent home clearly demonstrates the demographics of who is voting and there is no doubt the highest voting population is below the age of 22 and have IQ's of less than their ages, if actual votes are counted. Most of them are tone deaf, most likely do not play a musical instrument and if they do "play" is the operative word and can't read music.

It is apparent they vote with their eyes and not their ears or Lambert would have been sent packing weeks ago or never made it to Hollywood. I do not know which visage has more star appeal Adam the goth wanna-be or Adam "Presley" but either way his talent is all in HIS head and 19 sees him as one they want to market to bring home the most revenue.

We hear every time she performs that Megan/Meghan is "cute", "adorable" and according to Kara "MARKETABLE". Well Kara needs to open her beady little eyes because there are more marketable singers including one who was sent home last week. Alexis Grace.

After Taylor Hicks win I think the limeys who run AI have decided they will have the ultimate vote and like the Republican officials in Ohio have no problem rigging the vote and outcome. The viewer vote is a money maker for the phone companies which I would not be surprised is shared with 19.

No Way Matt should have been in the bottom 3. Megan and Scott need to go. Megan should have went before Alexis Grace. Voting for looks or even entertainment is what counts. Can they sing? Taylor Hicks was a good entertainer but where is he now? We need a guy that can rock it out like Carrie Underwood has done to Country. Top contenders are Danny, Adam and Matt.

Matt should never have been in the bottom 3. He is awesome! He is my favorite. He can play the piano AND sing. That is something people are dismissing. Megan needs to go! She sucks. She is very pretty, but who cares. She can't dance and surely can't sing. I like Scott but he isn't anything great. He will go home soon I am sure. But Megan needs to go first. Also, I don't know why everyone is so in love with Adam. He bores me. He is weird and annoying. Plus he wears too much cover-up which makes his skin look even worse. And Danny bores me too. It perplexes me why the passing of his wife is carrying him in this contest. He's nothing spectacular.

Adam is just creepy, with bad skin and he makes me want to hurl. He can sing, for sure, but I don't see him as THE American Idol. He's just way too "emo" for my tastes. Considering that they interviewed thousands of applicants, the judges only have themselves to blame for having bad singers in the top ten. If they really didn't want to hear poor singing, they should have selected more carefully. Therefore, the "poor" singers must have been put in the final thirteen in order to be voted off before the "good" singers. After all, if you want to make sure the public chooses Adam, Danny, or Allison, you put in people who are very much below their quality. Then you add the "judges' save" to ensure that one of your favorites gets the contract. Bottom line: it's a business.

It is not a beauty contest, Megan has absolutely no singing ability whatsoever. I have to cover my ears when she sings. I don't get what the judges see in her at all, I even hate her little dance movements. Michael deserved to be in the bottom 2 however. Aint too Proud to Beg was way beyond his capability. Matt didn't deserve to be in the bottom 3 either. The thing is people don't vote and then they complain. Maybe it is because they think their favorites will win.

Michael and Scott both deserved to be in the bottom two, but Matt didn't. It should have been Megan since her performance was worse than any of them were last night. Trying to pick a winner on Idol has become very difficult.. Is it a singing performance contest, a beauty contest, a most talented handicapped person contest, or a 'vote for the worst singer so the worst one will win and that will be funny' contest. I like it when the voters just pick the best singer of the bunch who looks like an American Idol. Is that asking too much?

When I first heard that Matt was facing elimination, I did a double take. Matt's "Let's Get It On" belonged in the top 3, for sure.

However, after further contemplation, it sort of made sense.

You see, I voted for Adam. He's my favorite. Even though I really want to see Allison and Kris in the top 3, I'm only concerned about voting for my favorite contestant.

I imagine most of America does the same. So, whereas Matt was definitely great, he's not many people's top choice. And when you're America's second (or third or fourth...) choice, you don't get their vote.

Thus, Matt ended up in the bottom 2.
