Matthew McConaughey has never been shy about taking his shirt off on camera, but the actor's skimpy "Magic Mike" costume left even less to the imagination.

The 43-year-old, who plays a male stripper in Steven Soderbergh’s “Magic Mike,” told The Hollywood Reporter, “It’s a huge leap of faith to trust a thong.”

Snooki and JWOWW are just like Laverne and Shirley, producer says

Despite sporting hair poofs and animal print in place of pixie cuts and monogrammed sweaters, Snooki and JWOWW are the modern-day Laverne and Shirley, producer SallyAnn Salsano said.

Salsano, the creator of MTV's “Jersey Shore” and “Snooki & JWOWW,” which premiered on Thursday, told CNN Snooki and JWOWW are a lot like Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams' characters on the '70s sitcom.

Today's news you might've missed:

  • We won't get to have the Channing Tatum double-feature we were so excited for, now that "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" has been bumped from a June 29 release to March 29, 2013, so that it can be in 3-D. (Because that's so, so necessary, clearly.) Guess we'll just have to see "Magic Mike" twice, then. [EW]
  • New music is on the way from Justin Timberlake, but sorry fans - it’s not in the form of a new album. "The Social Network" star will compose his very first movie score for the upcoming film “The Devil in the Deep Blue Sea.” [Billboard]
  • So that one time, when Nicole Kidman gave Zac Efron a golden shower in a movie that just premiered at Cannes .... Yeah. We think we're just going to leave it there. This review says it all. [Vulture]
  • Cannes must be awfully romantic/a great place to get some publicity for PDA: Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were caught so-close-but-not-quite kissing (at least, to our eyes) at the film fest, as were Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. [People/E!]
  • We know the jeweler, thanks to Ace Young's shout-out, so we might as well get a close-up of the ring he gave to Diana DeGarmo when he popped the question on "Idol." [Us Weekly]
  • Oh, and also: "The Exorcist" will reportedly soon be a 10-episode TV series. Because,  you know, why not? [Vulture]

Today's news you might've missed:

  • Will Smith explains why he's the most natural choice to play President Barack Obama in a movie: It's all in the ears. [BBC]
  • There's a "D'Angelo returns" story attached to this slideshow of the gifted R&B singer, but we haven't read it yet because we couldn't make it past photo No. 2. D'Angelo, sir, allow us to say welcome back. [GQ]
  • Bring out the guitars and 10-gallon hats: country music star Toby Keith has been tapped to host the upcoming CMT Music Awards along with actress Kristen Bell when the show airs live from Nashville on June 6.
  • Is anyone surprised that Howard Stern caused a kid to cry on "America's Got Talent"? We suppose so, since it's a headline. [Celebuzz]
  • Here's all the pertinent info about this next clip: Bill Murray, "Moonrise Kingdom," behind-the-scenes. Annnd go: [Gothamist]
  • The new poster for "The Dark Knight Rises" is *fire*. (We know, we know - but we couldn't resist!) [NME]
  • Johnny Depp's Tonto role has been embraced by the Comanche Nation - so much so, the actor's been officially adopted as one of their own. [EW]
  • Rumor has it that Gerard Butler's going for $127k on the dating-for-charity auction block these days - and the person who bid as much on the "Golden Globes weekend" package didn't even want the actor, just access to the event. [Contact Music]
  • And now, for Bobby Brown's, um ... interesting music video for the even more interestingly titled single, "Don't Let Me Die."
