Happy Monday, Marquee readers. Hey, did you go to the movies this weekend? We're betting that even if you did, you probably didn’t go see the new Jennifer Aniston movie, “The Switch,” because it tanked.
There weren't many card-carrying Team Aniston members in the "Showbiz Tonight" morning meeting but – so what? Does it really matter if Jennifer Aniston’s movies aren’t box office gold?
On the other hand, the "Showbiz" staff just loves the “Jersey Shore.” We love it so much, two staffers even spent part of their summer there (sadly, no guest cameos on the show though). Anyway, the ratings for the show are breaking all kinds of records, and the "Jersey Shore” was the biggest thing on TV last week. Plus, there's the news today that “The Situation” is making more money than some of Hollywood’s biggest stars. No joke!
And speaking of reality superstars, today we’re also talking about Bill O’Reilly’s Kim Kardashian smackdown. Did he really call her gross for doing a sexy photo shoot with Justin Bieber? Join us for this debate and more today on “Showbiz Tonight!"
Watch "Showbiz Tonight," TV’s most provocative entertainment news shows, live at 5 p.m. ET today and again at 11 p.m. ET/PT on HLN!
The "Showbiz Tonight" staff was still buzzing this morning about the fed-up flight attendant. New rumors are swirling about what really went down before Steven Slater went bonkers. We were also blown away by how many of our loyal "Showbiz Tonight" viewers (We love ya!) think Slater should become a reality TV star!
Today we’re asking in our "Showbiz" poll which show Slater should be cast on, "Survivor," "Celebrity Apprentice" or "Jersey Shore"? He’s got a solid 7 minutes left of his 15 minutes of fame so we’re thinking he should milk them for all the dollars they're worth.
By the way, what are your weekend plans? Are you heading to the movies? Even if you're not, we're sure you know there’s going be an all-out box office war between the nerds and the stars. Will Julia Roberts’ star power in “Eat, Pray Love” be enough to defeat Michael Cera’s lovable nerd-romantic-comedy, “Scott Pilgrim Versus the World”?
Hey, did you hear the story about the flight attendant who went bonkers after his plane landed in New York City?
We're sure you have, because honestly, how could you not? “Showbiz Tonight” Associate Producer Jessica Como said people were talking about the flight attendant gone wild during her commute to work, and we were talking about it before the “Showbiz Tonight” morning meeting even started!
The story is so wild, we think the flight attendant, Steven Slater, should get his own show.
Friday is our favorite day of the week here at "Showbiz Tonight" – not because the weekend is here but because we get to name the Most Provocative Celebrity of the Week!
It’s one of those days when we have more nominees than we can shake a stick at. Competing for the title are Gisele Bundchen, Michaele Salahi and Charlie Sheen. We even had some “dishonorable” mentions, including one for Naomi Campbell.
"Showbiz Tonight" booker and proud mommy Mara Wilcox was adamant that Bundchen should be named Most Provocative for saying there should be a worldwide breast-feeding law. (Trust me, there was even smoke coming out of her ears as she said this.) We want to hear who you think it should be – post your thoughts on our Facebook wall and let us know!
There was so much big news to cover on “Showbiz Tonight,” we had to take a vote in the morning meeting on which story would be our top story today.
Elizabeth Edwards is making startling revelations about life after her split from former presidential candidate John Edwards and - get this - she feels a special sisterhood with Sandra Bullock.
Hey, it makes sense – Sandra and Elizabeth had ugly splits, with their husband’s mistresses talking to anyone who would listen, and both stood strong in the face of all the drama and both seem to be coming out on the other side stronger women!
No one had a "case of the Mondays" at the "Showbiz Tonight" morning meeting today because EVERYONE was taking sides on Chris Brown’s performance and breakdown at the BET Awards.
Brown, as you remember, attacked Rihanna last February before the Grammy Awards. He hasn’t really attended or performed at an awards show since, but last night’s tribute to Michael Jackson has everyone talking and taking sides today.
The "Showbiz" team was solidly split this morning, with some saying Brown was genuine while others believe it was a publicity stunt. What do you think? Leave us a message on our the "Showbiz Tonight" Facebook wall today and you could see your comments on the show - the debate is going to be as hot as today’s high temperature in New York City!
