"The Hurt Locker" director Kathryn Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal have crafted one of the most acclaimed movies of the year with "Zero Dark Thirty," and along the way they've spurred a healthy debate.
The film stars Jessica Chastain as a C.I.A. agent involved in the hunt for Osama bin Laden, but the portrayal of "enhanced interrogation," including waterboarding and other methods, has raised the question of whether "Zero Dark Thirty" is supporting such tactics.

Anthony Hopkins wasn't the only "Hitchcock" star who was sensitive about his new role.
When Scarlett Johansson picked up the gig of playing "Psycho" actress Janet Leigh in the Sacha Gervasi-directed feature about the making of Alfred Hitchcock's seminal 1960 thriller, she wanted to make sure Leigh's daughters, Jamie Lee and Kelly Curtis, were OK with it.

Considering that Simon Cowell already radically shuffled the hired talent on "The X Factor," it wouldn't be a great sign if he had to do it again.
Thankfully, he doesn't have to worry about new judge Britney Spears disappearing on him. The 30-year-old pop star, who signed on for a reported single season of the Fox reality competition for $15 million, has found herself pretty taken with her new job.
As she relayed to press at Monday's "X Factor" finalists party, she'll "definitely" be back for another season.
"It's a lot of fun. It's different from anything I've ever done before, but it's a lot of fun," Spears continued. "We get to sit back and get to be entertained, and it's just wonderful. It's really cool."

"Guilty Pleasures Week" concluded on "Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars" Wednesday with a rousing four-couple freestyle set to Psy's "Gangnam Style."
Despite the hopes of my colleague Jarrett Bellini, it appears the viral sensation has a few minutes of fame left in it. On Andy Warhol's 15-minute scale, I'll clock "Gangnam Style" at 11:57.

Prolific filmmaker and actor Tyler Perry is best known for helming the movies he stars in, and the projects are more about creating laughs than suspense.
All of which makes his starring role in this weekend's crime thriller "Alex Cross" something of a departure. But as he told CNN, he's actually always hoped he'd be able to try such an action-oriented role on for size.
