"One of the most important things [my mom] did growing up was that she always said to me that I could do whatever I wanted as long as I really, really wanted it," Johansson told CNN. "It allowed me to constantly sort of reassess what my priorities were and it grounded me in a way, and allowed me to come back to square one and say, 'What am I doing here, and why am I doing it?'" It's a lesson Johansson thinks all kids should learn, "no matter what," she said. "That they should be doing something because they're passionate about it and for no other reason.” Marcia Gay Harden files for divorceActress Marcia Gay Harden and her husband Thaddaeus Scheel are going their separate ways. A rep for the 52-year-old actress confirms to CNN that Harden has filed for divorce from her husband of 15 years. According to People magazine, Harden, who's picked up a best supporting actress Oscar as well as a Tony, has three children with Scheel: a 13-year-old daughter named Eulala, and 7-year-old twins Hudson and Julitta. "For the sake of the couple’s three children," her rep says, "Harden would like to request that the family’s privacy be respected at this time." What Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson looks for in a womanValentine's Day is right around the corner, and actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is revealing what it takes to win his heart. The "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island" star tells CNN that it's all in the potential paramour's sense of humor. "Here's what you've got to do: you've got to be independent, and you've got to have a sense of self," Johnson, 39, says. "You've got to have a great sense of humor." Demián Bichir on Oscar nod: Hopefully, now you'll see the movieWhen Oscar season rolls around, the biggest debate often happens over who was snubbed by the Academy. But the annual round of nominations also offers something else: A mainstream spotlight for films you might've overlooked when they were released. Demián Bichir, who picked up an Oscar nod for best actor in Chris Weitz's "A Better Life," is hoping that's the case for their project. Sean Penn named ambassador at large to HaitiBefore the Golden Globes this weekend, there was another fete with A-listers in attendance: A fundraiser gala for Sean Penn's J/P Haitian Relief Organization. Penn, who has been assisting with earthquake relief for Haiti since the disaster struck in January of 2010, was honored on Saturday night at the event and officially named the ambassador at large to Haiti by the country's Minister of Foreign and Religious Affairs, Laurent Lamothe. The dinner, which was organized by Cinema for Peace, raised $5 million to put toward the efforts of rebuilding, according to a statement, and Penn told CNN at the event that Haiti is at a crucial turning point. |
