Jennifer Lawrence sets a new record, and more news to note

Today's talk you might've missed:

  • Jennifer Lawrence could use some good news, no? In the midst of her photo drama, at least she can hold on to being the highest-grossing action movie heroine - a feat that puts her in the Guinness Book of World Records. [Guinness World Records]
  • While we're talking about "The Hunger Games," get a look at the first promo shot of Katniss from "Mockingjay - Part I." [EW]
  • Because she's Beyonce, the singer will be spending her 33rd birthday on September 4 in Corsica. [E!]
  • Both Scarlett Johansson and Alyssa Milano have welcomed newborn girls into their families. Johansson and her fiance, Romain Dauriac, confirmed the arrival of daughter Rose on September 4, the same day that Alyssa Milano and her husband, David Bugliari, welcomed daughter Elizabella Dylan. [MTV/Us Weekly]
  • GhostTunes may sound scary, but it's actually just Garth Brooks' new online music store. [NYT]

Allison Williams as Peter Pan, and more news to note

Today's talk you might've missed:

  • We know you have thoughts about Allison Williams as Peter Pan ... but all we're going to say is props to NBC's hair people on the wig. [Allison Williams' Instagram]
  • One person who won't be watching Lifetime's Brittany Murphy biopic? Murphy's dad, who's already said how much he hates it. [TV Guide]
  • Ariana Grande hasn't had a single "Problem" climbing to the top of the Billboard 200. "My Everything" is now a No. 1 album. [NYT]
  • Kaley Cuoco may or may not have just jokingly commented about that nude photo scandal. "What a fun day that was, frolicking with my hubs on the beaches of Mexico!" she captioned this photo on Instagram. "Feels like we forgot something?"
  • It's real, y'all: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is "Shazam's" Black Adam. [Variety]

'Magic Mike XXL' revs its engines, and more news to note

Today's talk you might've missed:

      • Steven Soderbergh nearly caused an Internet meltdown Tuesday with nothing more than a two-word tweet. Brace yourselves: the "Magic Mike" sequel, "Magic Mike XXL," has started production.
      • The likelihood that Emmy Rossum will be in the next nude photo leak is slim to none. The "Shameless" actress won't even send a text message to a guy, so we're pretty sure she's not offering sultry pictures. [Cosmopolitan]
      • Hearing two unreleased Adele songs just rubs salt in the "no new Adele album" wound, but we couldn't not share this with you. [NYMag's Vulture]
      • Kind of embarrassed that you keep binge-watching that same show? Netflix will now start keeping your secret. [EW]
      • Basically everyone skipped "The Unauthorized Saved By the Bell Story" on Lifetime in favor of more Labor Day noshing on Monday: the TV movie was watched by only 1.6 million. [THR]

Lance Bass is engaged again, and more news to note

Today's talk you might've missed:

  • Before getting married to Michael Turchin, it seems Lance Bass wants to make sure the engagement will stick. The singer has proposed to his fiance for a second time with a brand-new ring, marking the anniversary of the first time Bass popped the question. "Who gets proposed to a second time on the first anniversary of the first proposal??" Turchin asked on Instagram when sharing a photo of his (newest) engagement ring. "This guy!!!"
  • Britney Spears isn't thinking about engagements; she's just trying to enjoy being back on the market. "Well, by now everyone knows that my boyfriend was cheating on me," Spears bluntly told the audience at her Las Vegas show on Sunday. "But the best part of breaking up is going on first dates ... I need a hot guy." [MTV]
  • According to Miley Cyrus, there's absolutely no love lost between herself and Liam Hemsworth after their breakup. [Daily Mail]
  • "The Voice" has landed pop and country's golden child - as in, Taylor Swift, obviously - to be an advisor on its new season. Since it would be a clear unfair advantage for her to just work with one team, Swift is going to spread her wisdom around to all the contestants. [THR]
  • So have you met Snoop Dogg Lion's new alter-ego, Toodd? Yeah. We're just going to leave this here. [Mediaite]
  • The worst thing about being a "Downton Abbey" fan is that every new trailer is just a reminder of how much longer you'll have to wait for a new season. Still, this sneak peek at season five is a doozy:

Britney Spears is single, and more news to note

Today's talk you might've missed:

  •  Why is Britney Spears all of a sudden tweeting about "the single life?" It seems her boyfriend of 18 months, David Lucado, might have been cheating on her ... which apparently has led to an abrupt breakup. [TMZ]

  • Angelina Jolie's dad Jon Voight didn't get to go to her wedding - it was Pax and Maddox who walked the actress down the aisle - but he's, like, totally happy for and not mad at all about not getting invited, really. [Daily Mail]
  • First, go enjoy Adam Brody's "Ask Me Anything" on Reddit. Then, peep his new Amazon pilot, "The Cosmopolitans." [Reddit/Amazon]
  • We've got good TV news and bad TV news, and we're going to start with the bad first: A&E has decided to give "Longmire" the heave-ho after three seasons. [TVGuide]
  • But on the other hand, if you've been missing FXX's massive "Simpsons" marathon because you've been on vacation or didn't know FXX was a thing, fear not: the network cousin of FX is now going to offer the animated comedy most nights of the week starting September 2. [EW]

  • Unless something got lost in translation - she reportedly made this announcement in the Mexican issue of Cosmopolitan - Shakira is expecting her second child with partner Gerard Pique. [NYDN]
  • The Boss is getting into children's books. Bruce Springsteen is set to release a book for kids called "Outlaw Pete," which, yes, is based on his song of the same name. [LAT]
  • New posters for "Hunger Games: Mockingjay"? Yes please, and always. [HitFix]
