Cleaning up after the man-child on 'Parenthood'

The Braverman clan is still cleaning up after Crosby's mess of a one-night stand.

His parents and sisters know about it and try to help, but the biggest issue is Adam, Kristina and Max. They’re now without a therapist just when Max overhears he has Asperger's.

The episode opens with Adam and Kristina sitting down with Max to explain what Asperger's is. They hadn't told him because they weren't ready and didn't think he was. They hadn’t even planned how to tell him, but thanks to Crosby, planning their talk is no longer an option.

'Parenthood': Don't sleep with your autistic nephew's therapist

The title of this episode is an example of one of the many reasons I like this show; it gets straight to the point.

Crosby manages to have a negative effect on a bunch of people, all because he was feeling sorry for himself and decided to spend the night with Max's therapist, Gaby. He does the walk of shame out of her apartment the Morning After. He’s about to find out it’s not going to be that easy to walk away from what he did.

Jasmine shows up at Adam and Kristina's while Gaby is working with Max. Gaby overhears Jasmine telling Kristina about her problems with Crosby. She's so guilty and distracted she can't concentrate.

Second thoughts and second guessing on 'Parenthood'

There’s some backpedaling going on amongst the Bravermans.

They're second guessing themselves and each other, and it doesn't look like anything good will come of it.

Zeek was having second thoughts about how important it is for Drew to see his father. I can understand that because Seth is an idiot, even if he is sober - I can't imagine what he's like drunk.

Parenthood: 'Just Go Home'

Parenthood: 'Just Go Home'

As noted in the title of this week's episode, there are some homecomings - some welcome, and some not so welcome.

(And of course, this recap will have spoilers. Click away now if you haven’t watched.)

This is the week Jon Corbett makes his first appearance as Drew and Amber’s wayward dad, Seth. Drew goes by himself to meet his dad for lunch. No one knows he’s in town. I’m not sure what’s sadder, that Drew knows where his dad has been because he reads the band’s website, or that Seth didn’t seem to realize how sad that is.

'Parenthood': Think twice before eating that candy

I'm starting to think that a few of the Bravermans need to get their ears checked.  Was it just me, or did some of the family members seemingly forget how to listen during last night's episode?

Let’s start with Zeek wanting to take Max on a fishing trip. I think any kid with Zeek on a camping trip would be a problem, but Zeek with Max? Definitely problematic.

Crosby tries to warn him, but Zeek is convinced Max will have no problem on the traditional Braverman manly hunter-gatherer camping trip. Grandpa Zeek is well-intentioned but not well-versed on Max’s Asperger’s, despite the handbook Kristina prepares for him. But men like Zeek don't read instruction manuals. He realizes he really doesn't understand what Adam and Kristina have been going through when Max has a meltdown.

Parental angst and teen loathing on 'Parenthood'

Parental angst and teen loathing on 'Parenthood'

On last night's episode of "Parenthood," nearly all the parents were wondering or fighting about whether they were doing something to screw up their kids.

At the dress rehearsal for the first grade play, Jabbar develops stage fright and doesn’t want to do the play anymore. Cousin Sydney, however, is happy to step up. Crosby seems very disappointed. At home he tries to explain the concept of butterflies and why it's important to try even if he's scared.

Mom Jasmine, who spends time on stage, joins in the conversation, but tells Jabbar he doesn't have to do it, without discussing it with Crosby. Which is strange, considering she recently yelled at Crosby for not backing her up. And I swear I saw her look at him like, "let's see how you like it when I play the good parent for a change."
