On "The Colbert Report" Tuesday night, host Stephen Colbert opened with an impassioned show of support to the people of Boston - one that'll make you simultaneously tear up and cheer.
He pointed out that while officials continue to investigate who's behind Monday's blasts, he does know that "whoever did this obviously did not know s*** about the people of Boston."

When tragedies like the Boston Marathon bombings happen, late-night hosts have to find ways to carry on - or not - with shows that are meant to be lighthearted. How do you crack jokes on a day when nothing seems funny?
On Monday night, following the blasts that killed three and wounded more than 100 others, Jimmy Kimmel, Craig Ferguson and Conan O'Brien each approached that question in their own way.

The idea of Lindsay Lohan appearing on "Letterman," with not much to promote but her recent plea deal, initially caused some to think it was another April Fool's joke. (She did try to pull a pregnancy prank, after all.)
But no, the Lohan appearance was really on the schedule, and the 26-year-old actress showed up as planned - even early! This being David Letterman, he didn't waste any time fooling with nonsense questions.

Just because Jimmy Fallon's bringing new competition into the 11:35 timeslot doesn't mean Jimmy Kimmel can't keep things friendly.
The ABC late-night host, who's new to the 11:35 neighborhood himself, apparently congratulated Fallon on his future "Tonight Show" takeover on Thursday with a sizable spread from a New York deli.

It seems everyone but Jimmy Fallon is wondering when the comedian will get a shot at hosting "The Tonight Show."
The rumors about Fallon replacing Jay Leno on the NBC program, which the network's declined to comment on, have been heavy recently. The New York Times' Bill Carter reported Wednesday that the network has made a commitment to Fallon in regards to him succeeding Leno, and Carter reiterated as much while speaking with CNN's Jake Tapper.
