In a prior life, Britney Spears would've been Audrey HepburnWith her new album, "Femme Fatale," dropping March 29, Britney Spears' name is currently on everyone's lips. But in a new interview, she's turning the tables and speaking out about other stars. Spears, a longtime Madonna fan, tells the latest issue of Out magazine that she is molding her career after the Material Girl's. "She is an amazing entertainer," says the pop princess, who posed in a barely there leotard that reveals tattoos near her crotch. "Besides Madonna, I also admire Sarah Jessica Parker’s career and her shoe collection." Christina Aguilera to coach 'The Voice'After making headlines for her recent arrest, Christina Aguilera is back in the news for her arresting vocals. The Grammy-winning star has just landed a gig as a coach on NBC's upcoming singing competition, "The Voice." As Marquee previously reported, "The Voice" is based on a Dutch reality series in which four celebrity coaches sit with their backs to contestants during auditions and blindly select those they want to take on as students. Each coach builds a team and brings in personal producers and songwriters to help their students evolve before pitting them against each other. "I am so excited to be part of such a wonderful project that celebrates music and the talent behind it," says Aguilera, who joins fellow coaches Cee Lo Green and Maroon 5's Adam Levine. "To be given the opportunity to help shape new artists' careers and mentor them to see their dreams come to fruition is a task I welcome with open arms." Adds executive producer Mark Burnett, "Christina has a perfect voice and is an undeniable force in the music business. She is the epitome of 'The Voice.'" "The Voice" premieres on NBC on April 26. Pink pokes fun at Christina and BritneyWhen Pink released her début album in 2000, she seemed like quite the wild child compared to then reigning pop princesses like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. My, how things have changed! The always outspoken singer took to Twitter yesterday to give her take on Aguilera's recent brush with the law and Spears' past troubles. "Out of Myself, Britney, and Christina – didn't everyone think I was gonna be the troublemaker?" she wrote. "LOOK MA!!! No CUFFS!!!" Will Britney Spears show up at the Grammys? The 53rd Annual Grammy awards air Sunday night, and as usual, the show will rock, producer Ken Ehrlich promises CNN. For starters, there's a tribute to Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin featuring Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson, Martina McBride, Yolanda Adams and Florence Welch from Florence and the Machine. "Every one of these women can sing, and we wanted to keep it all women because Aretha broke so many barriers and so many boundaries for women that this is a little payback," says Ehrlich, adding that they'll perform hits such as "Respect" and "Natural Woman." Minor-league hockey team offers Aguilera a do-overA minor league hockey team is offering Christina Aguilera a national anthem do-over. The superstar singer botched "The Star-Spangled Banner" before Sunday's Super Bowl, substituting a line she'd previously sung for the one she was supposed to be on. "I got so lost in the moment of the song that I lost my place," Aguilera said. "I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through." Christina Aguilera does know the words to the national anthem
Okay, so Christina Aguilera did a lyrical switch-up while performing the national anthem at the Super Bowl on Sunday. But let’s think back to happier times, when she belted out “The Star-Spangled Banner” at both Game 6 and Game 7 of the NBA finals last summer. See? She DOES know the words! As she said in a statement, last night was just a fluke. “I got so lost in the moment of the song that I lost my place,” the 30-year-old singer told CNN. “I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of it's anthem still came through.” |
