Mark Ronson, who collaborated extensively with Winehouse during her career, told the Village Voice recently that he'd spoken to Winehouse prior to her passing about working together again, but that Adele's rise might've set her on edge. "What little time we had, well, it was tense," Ronson said. "She was in a bad state, God knows why. I think that the Adele thing had Amy freaked out. She liked her, but Adele's success was making Amy feel upset, competitive, restless." Adele talks next single, album plansAdele's professional crush on Beyonce isn't wavering. According to Billboard, the British pop phenom recently told French radio station NRJ that she “adores” the American R&B star and is eager to record a song with her. Adele's '21' breaks Nielsen SoundScan recordAdele has double the reason to celebrate coming off her two wins at Tuesday's Brit Awards: The singer's unstoppable sophomore album, "21," has pulled off its largest sales week in its one-year history. The record, released Stateside a year ago today, saw a 207 percent increase in sales after picking up six Grammys on February 12. In its post-Grammys sales week, 730,000 copies of "21" were sold. This also leads to another record for the 23-year-old Brit songstress: Thanks to her post-Grammys boost, it's the biggest sales week following a Grammys win in Nielsen SoundScan's history, which goes back to 1991. |
