Gabby Douglas is an Olympic champ turned author - more on that in a minute - but she still has her fangirl moments.

The gold-medal gymnast will appear with the rest of the Fierce Five at tonight's MTV Video Music Awards, and there's one artist in particular Douglas, 16, is excited to see.

VMAs host Kevin Hart: The DNC can't compete with me

Sure, the President's going to speak at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday night, but MTV Video Music Awards host Kevin Hart is confident in his ability to draw an audience.

The timing of the two events will narrowly miss each other, as this year's VMAs will air from 8 to 10 p.m. and President Obama is set to accept the Democratic nomination for a second term after 10 p.m.

But, as Hart noted when we chatted with him Tuesday about the slight scheduling conflict, have you seen how many Twitter followers he has?

Drake, Rihanna lead MTV VMA nods

Rihanna and Drake are used to collaborating on music together, but they'll be in competition at this year's MTV Video Music Awards.

The two music stars lead the pack of nominees this year, with both of them having five shots each at winning a statue.

Adam Levine lashes out at MTV

Hollywood has been all a-tizzy over the MTV Video Music Awards, but one celebrity was not happy about the weekend’s big event. Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine fired off nasty tweets about the award show all weekend, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The “Voice” mentor used his Twitter account to rant about the awards show, according to the publication. On Saturday, Levine posted this tirade: “the VMA's. one day a year when MTV pretends to still care about music. I'm drawing a line in the sand. F–k you VMA's.”

Celebs make up for Gaga's tame VMA look with eccentric outfits

From her red lace mask and hat in 2009, to her meat dress in 2010 – it’s no wonder #Whatwillgagawear was trending on Twitter before the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards kicked-off on Sunday night.

This time around, Lady Gaga didn’t shock viewers with blood-spattered lingerie, or a hat that wouldn’t make it past airport security. Instead, Gaga donned a pair of black slacks and a white T-Shirt as her musical alter ego, Joe Calderone.

Ironically, it was the most street-friendly outfit we’ve seen her sport. But, not to worry, these celebs dressed crazy enough to make up for Gaga’s tamer look:

'Hunger Games' teaser receives mixed reviews

Fans of “The Hunger Games” got a sneak peek at the upcoming film, set to hit theaters in March 2012, during the MTV Video Music Awards last night.

The clip - presented via satellite by Oscar-nominated Jennifer Lawrence, who plays Katniss Everdeen in the flick - clearly left some folks wanting more.

At about 45 seconds long, the footage features Lawrence’s character running through the forest, dodging fires and shooting her bow and arrow.
