Fans anxious for a “Sex and the City” fix will get a little taste on Tuesday when the much anticipated movie sequel’s trailer debuts online.

The teaser will be posted at www.epk.tv at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night. It will officially precede the movie musical “Nine,” in theaters on Christmas Day.

The sequel to the 2008 box office smash, which made more than $415 million worldwide, brings back all four original lead characters: Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie, Cynthia Nixon as Miranda, Kristin Davis as Charlotte and Kim Cattrall as Samantha.

Star Sarah Jessica Parker told Glamour magazine that the new film is much more light-hearted than the first movie, which featured Carrie being left at the altar and the breakdown of Miranda’s marriage.

“The first movie had a lot of sadness in it, and it was very brave about breaking the rules of romantic comedy. This one is very much the antidote for that: It's a romp. It's about the idea of women's and men's roles in marriage, and old traditions versus new ones. The story is really fun, but it's also about something," Parker said.

testing captions

Let me start this by saying I am a geek. In fact, I am an uber-geek and someone who loves everything that is geeky in the world!

With that in mind, I was so sick and tired of hearing about "Avatar." I was sick and tired of being told how cool it was going to be, how it was going to change movies, how it would change the way I would watch movies. I started to feel like I was being told that if I did not like this movie, I was not a good geek but some poser geek - or maybe not a geek at all.

So why did I get in line at 11:15 p.m. Thursday to wait my turn to go in and see "Avatar" at 12:01 a.m. Friday? Because I am a geek, and that is what we do, right?

Let's start with a quick synopsis of the move (just in case you have not read a magazine, watched TV or used the Internet): “The story of an ex-Marine who finds himself thrust into hostilities on an alien planet filled with exotic life forms. As an Avatar, a human mind in an alien body, he finds himself torn between two worlds, in a desperate fight for his own survival and that of the indigenous people. More than 10 years in the making.” (rottentomatoes.com)

So how was it?

It was fantastic.

I could not get enough of the world we were thrust into. The world that I knew was 100 percent computer-generated, but after the first 15 minutes, I forgot or just did not care. It was so real - so incredible - that I felt like I was there.

If you saw the original "Matrix" in the theater and remember the scene when Trinity stopped in midair for the first time, you get how I felt when we descended onto the planet for the first time.

The acting had its flaws, and the music left a lot to be desired, but the action - the story - was so much deeper than I thought. I really thought it was just going to be the usual "we want what they have, so we kill them to get it" stuff - and it was - but it was told to us so, so much better than we have seen it before.

Yes, the action at times made me a little queasy, but I never felt sick. (There were some in the theater who had to get up and run out at certain junctures.)

Yes, some of the dialogue could have come from a bad sci–fi video game.

But is that why you went to this movie? Again, I have to ask: Did you see the effects? WOW!

Will this movie stand the test of time? Heck, no - and most non sci-fi/geek fans will walk out wanting their money back. For everything I loved about this movie, it's by far not perfect. But that said, I still think it's incredible.

I will say: Do not judge this by the trailers. It is so much more and so much better than what we saw. This is a movie that needs to be seen on a large screen - and by seen, I mean experienced in the way only a movie of this size can be.

As I write this, at almost 4 a.m. Friday, I am going to end by asking: So who wants to go see it again?

Repeat iReporter Adriana Maxwell of Marietta, Georgia saw “Avatar” last night and was quite impressed with it. She says the 3-D effects were the most seamless she has ever seen within a live action film read her review.

The fantasy film, which has received mixed early reviews is besting this summer’s science fiction favorite “Star Trek” in advance sales.

According to a survey of ticket buyers conducted by the website, 70% of folks claim they don’t care about the film’s reported $300 million budget.

A bold 37% of the men surveyed said they plan to take a date with them to see the movie this weekend. Good luck to them.

Early interest in the film has skewed significantly towards a male audience. On Wednesday, MovieTickets.com said that 78% of "Avatar" advance ticket buyers were male, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Elder stateswomen of the silver screen take note: the box office darling of the past decade isn't Julia Roberts, Reese Witherspoon or Cameron Diaz. It is 19-year old Emma Watson.

Watson's run as Hermione Granger in the blockbuster "Harry Potter" saga has made her the highest grossing actress of the past ten years, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.

Watson beat out 24-year old Keira Knightley for the top spot. Knightly has starred in 15 movies including three of the “Pirates Of The Caribbean” films, which have brought in box office receipts of $3.42 billion over the past ten years.

The wizarding franchise and Watson’s role in the animated “The Tale Of Despereaux” have taken $5.4 billion in sales worldwide. The success of the animated “Despereaux” pushed the young actress’ box office receipts beyond those of her male co-stars in the Potter series, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint.

Watson was cast as Hermione when she was 9-years old, having only previously acted in school plays. She is currently a student at Brown University in Rhode Island studying art and literature. She will next appear in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”, parts 1 and 2 in 2010 and 2011.

Filling in for the late actor Heath Ledger in Terry Gilliam’s “The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus,” was an unbelievably sad privilege says Johnny Depp, who was called in to supplement Ledger’s role in the half finishing film alongside actors Colin Farrell and Jude Law.

Ledger’s tragic death in 2008 left the film without a leading man. The Hollywood heavy-hitters stepped in to each play an incarnation of Ledger’s character, a mysterious loner who helps Dr. Parnassus, played by Christopher Plummer save his daughter’s soul from the devil.

"Though the circumstances of my involvement are extremely heartrending and unbelievably sad, I feel privileged to have been asked aboard to stand in on behalf of dear Heath,” Depp said in a statement to Moviefone.

"The Hollywood Foreign Press have just given me a time out from my 20 year midlife crisis. My heartfelt thanks to them." – Colin Firth, up for best lead actor in a drama for "A Single Man"

"We are completely thrilled to be nominated for a Golden Globe. The Globes have a long and illustrious history... we are happy to spoil that. Thank you HFPA." – Todd Phillips, writer/director of "The Hangover," nominated for Best Feature – Comedy

"Thank you very much to the Hollywood Foreign Press for making my mum cry in the grocery store. I'm honored and completely speechless." – Carey Mulligan, up for best actress in a drama for "An Education"

Jeff Bridges is earning rave reviews for playing a singer/songwriter on a downward spiral in "Crazy Heart," and this morning the role brought him his fourth career Golden Globe nomination. Maggie Gyllenhaal, Robert Duvall, and Colin Farrell co-star in the drama, and he thanked them all in his reaction to being nominated... but see whether another name he mentions seems familiar:

"The Hollywood Foreign Press has been mighty fine to me over the past 30 years, and this year is especially sweet. I'm happy to share this nom with my buddies T Bone Burnett and Ryan Bingham for our 'Crazy Heart' theme song, and with our writer-director Scott Cooper and co-stars Maggie, Bob and Colin who who helped make Bad Blake such a genuine character. I would like to dedicate this recognition to the memory of the late, great Stephen Bruton who brought his musical touch to every part of the picture."

Yes, T Bone Burnett is a music legend, but did you catch his collaborator's name? Ryan Bingham is an Americana singer-songwriter who's gained some notice of late. Coincidentally, "Ryan Bingham" is also the name of George Clooney's character in "Up In The Air" – and, as it happens, Clooney is nominated opposite Bridges for lead actor in a drama, along with Colin Firth for "A Single Man," Morgan Freeman for "Invictus," and Tobey Maguire for "Brothers." (If you spot any more Ryan Binghams floating around this awards season, please let us know.)

This morning's Golden Globe nominations included the latest kudos for "The Hurt Locker," a small film that's receiving a lot of attention this awards season. The HFPA nominated the drama, about a U.S. army bomb disposal unit serving in Iraq, for Best Motion Picture – Drama, and Kathryn Bigelow for Best Director. She's up against James Cameron (her ex-husband) for "Avatar," Clint Eastwood for "Invictus," Jason Reitmand for "Up In The Air," and Quentin Tarantino for "Inglourious Basterds."

This is Bigelow's first Golden Globe nod, but accepting honors for "The Hurt Locker" is getting to be old hat: the movie has received top honors from the New York and Los Angeles film critics, and both groups named Bigelow best director as well. Here's how she reacted to this morning's nominations:

"I am thrilled that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has chosen to honor 'The Hurt Locker' this year alongside so many other great films. It is doubly exciting to be recognized for my work as as director on this film which is so very close to my heart, and which shines a light on the impossible situation overseas."

Another oft-repeated name this awards season is Christoph Waltz. The Austrian actor has received raves and honors for his role as a Nazi colonel in "Inglourious Basterds," including Best Actor at Cannes, and this morning he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor, along with Matt Damon for "Invictus," Woody Harrelson for "The Messenger," Christopher Plummer for "The Last Station," and Stanley Tucci for "The Lovely Bones." Waltz's reaction:

"Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press who have transported me from the unbelievable into the unimaginable."
