Awards season is ready to launch – the Golden Globes will air this Sunday – and in W magazine’s February issue, on newsstands January 25, some of the most talked about performances are highlighted.
We’re willing to bet you can guess the stars included in the round-up off the top of your head: Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis in “Black Swan”; Nicole Kidman in “Rabbit Hole”; Colin Firth in “The King’s Speech”; and all three of “The Social Network’s” stars, Jesse Eisenberg, Justin Timberlake and Andrew Garfield, to name a few.
The portfolio, W says, is an attempt to recognize actors whose performances stood head and shoulders above the rest, to “acknowledge and salute the work, to acknowledge and thank the actors for telling the truth—even when the truth was fiction.”
Above you’ll see a few of the famous faces that offered what W considers to be the top performances of the past year, along with statements on their own relationship to and understanding of great cinema. For more, visit WMagazine.com.

The love is apparently still going strong for Keith Urban and his wife, Nicole Kidman. The country crooner dedicated his latest album to his actress wife and lets it be known that he adores her.
Showbiz411.com reports that Urban dedicated his “Get Closer” album to his missus with the words, “Nicole Mary–i continue to be brought to my knees by this love of ours…I am in awe of how this blessed family we are creating stretches and fearlessly opens my vulnerable heart.”
And if that’s not enough, Urban goes on to say, “And I just want to be a better man for you and father for our heavenly Sunday Rose, and have you go to sleep every night knowing that no one has ever, or will ever, love you as much I do…and all we need is faith…”
That's so sweet we can't stand it!

There's a famous saying attributed to comedian George Burns : "The secret of acting is sincerity. If you can fake that, you've got it made."
It's a Hollywood truism, but I really think the stars who turned out for the CNN Heroes show were sincerely moved by the people they honored. Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, Pierce Brosnan, Neil Patrick Harris, Dwayne Johnson and George Lopez were among the celebs who introduced the 10 finalists for "CNN Hero of the Year", each of the nominees an "everyday person doing the extraordinary."
