Johnny Depp and Queen Elizabeth are cousins?

Johnny Depp might be upset about being left off the royal wedding guest list now that it's been revealed that he and Queen Elizabeth are reportedly distant cousins.

According to the Daily Mail, the "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" star and the British monarch both share the same bloodline. One branch of Depp's ancestors are descended from 15th-century aristocrats Sir William Gascoigne and his wife Margaret Percy, who hailed from Yorkshire, England.

Margaret was the daughter of the third Earl of Northumberland and also a direct descendent of King Edward III. Queen Elizabeth is Edward III's great-granddaughter, 17 times removed, and Depp's cousin, 20 times removed.

Madonna: I'm not being investigated

Following reports that plans for a school Madonna's charity was helping build in Malawi have been scrapped, the singer would like to make it clear that neither she, nor her charity, are currently under investigation.

"In recent days a number of wild and totally false rumors about Madonna's philanthropy - spread by bloggers and tabloids - have begun appearing on the internet," Madonna's  spokesperson  said in a statement to CNN.  "As we have said previously, Raising Malawi is currently undergoing a series of positive changes in an effort to serve more children."

It was reported recently that a plan to build a $15 million school for approximately 400 girls in Malawi had been halted by The Raising Malawi Academy for Girls, a Malawi based charity.

Plans halted for Madonna's Malawi school

It looks like Madonna’s plan to build a $15 million school for approximately 400 girls in Malawi won’t come to fruition, according to the New York Times.

The superstar co-founded the Raising Malawi charity through which the Raising Malawi Academy for Girls was to be built, but the organization has said that plans for the project have been discontinued and the organization’s board of directors replaced by a “caretaker board” that includes Madonna and her manager.

Update, 3/28 1:27 p.m.: A statement from Madonna's rep provides clarification that "The Raising Malawi Academy for Girls is a Malawi based organization which is independent from Raising Malawi Inc.. ," and that "the former is the organization which has made the changes.  RM Inc. has been a donor to the Raising Malawi Academy for Girls but has discontinued funding because of concerns related to how funds were spent."
