Verdict on 'Liz & Dick'? Successfully badLifetime's "Liz & Dick" has become the TV event viewers love to hate. There's been a flurry of biting (and, OK, pretty hilarious) commentary about the film leading up to and following its premiere Sunday night, which showed Lindsay Lohan as Elizabeth Taylor and Grant Bowler as Richard Burton. Over the course of 90 minutes, the movie swiftly retraced the legendary couple's stormy romance, interspersing the '60s-era story with scenes of the two dressed in black and addressing the camera directly from the grave. Lindsay Lohan: Keep me on set, it's safer that wayLindsay Lohan worked hard to get the part of Elizabeth Taylor in Lifetime's TV movie "Liz & Dick," and she's hoping that it'll pay off when it premieres on the network November 25. She told "Good Morning America" Friday that she got the part by "harassing [producer] Larry Thompson." "I had seen that they were going to be making the movie, and I got the producer's number," she said. "I didn't even care if my agents were going to do it or not, I just did it myself too." Lindsay Lohan recovering after hospital visitLindsay Lohan had a health scare on Sunday night that was severe enough to send the 26-year-old actress to the hospital for treatment, but her rep tells CNN that the "Liz & Dick" star is on the mend. It was asthma, Lohan's rep said, that landed the star in a New York City hospital. "Lindsay was treated and released, and is doing fine," the rep said. (According to her mother, Dina, the actress has been treated for "bronchial asthma ever since she was little," as she told The New York Daily News.) Watch: Promo for 'Liz and Dick'This November, Lindsay Lohan will be scandalous, provocative and controversial ... for her role as Dame Elizabeth Taylor, as a new clip for the Lifetime TV movie tells us. Lindsay Lohan charged with leaving accident sceneLindsay Lohan was arrested early Wednesday morning in New York, accused of leaving the scene of an accident, police said. A spokesman for the New York Police Department told CNN the actress was arrested around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday and taken to New York’s 10th Precinct police station, where she was processed and released on her own recognizance. CNN has reached out to Lohan's rep for comment. According to police, Lohan was entering the parking area of the Dream Hotel shortly after midnight in her 2010 Porsche Cayenne. Police said the hotel shares a driveway with a restaurant and that as Lohan was entering she allegedly hit a restaurant employee. Police allege she continued into the driveway and parked her car, leaving the scene of the accident. Lohan was charged with leaving the scene. Police said drugs and alcohol are not suspected in the accident. |
