Lifetime isn't letting up on its biopic business.
In addition to cranking out biographical films about Whitney Houston, Aaliyah and the "untold story" of "Saved By the Bell," the channel is also working on a film about late actress Brittany Murphy.
According to The Wrap, the Murphy biopic will focus on her and her mother's persistence in creating Murphy's career, which really began to take off with 1995's "Clueless."
It'll also delve into Murphy's personal struggles, as Lifetime claims in its statement about the biopic that her "desperation for approval and insecurity about her looks ma(de) her personal life a disaster. ... Unlike other stage moms, Sharon (Murphy) was always her daughter's support system, but that enduring love wasn't enough to save her sensitive Brittany from the vicissitudes of Hollywood life.”
Playing the actress will be Amanda Fuller, who currently portrays Kristin Baxter on ABC's "Last Man Standing." Lifetime's scheduled its biopic to air September 6.
Murphy, whose other hits include movies "8 Mile" and "Little Black Book," died suddenly in December 2009. She was 32.
Her death was later ruled an accident, but her father has alleged that the actress was poisoned.
