Somewhere in Tom Hiddleston is a crooning country star ready to break out.
The actor will get the opportunity to show his singing skills with his upcoming role as Hank Williams in the movie "I Saw the Light," which will chronicle the musician's rise to fame.
As Deadline reports, Hiddleston is more varied than his fame lets on; while he may be best known for his work in Marvel blockbusters, the 33-year-old British actor played F. Scott Fitzgerald in Woody Allen's "Midnight in Paris" and starred in the historical 2011 drama "War Horse."
As part of his role in "I Saw the Light," Hiddleston will be singing "Your Cheatin' Heart," "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" and "Hey Good Lookin'."
Filmmaker Marc Abraham, whose only other directing credit is 2008's "Flash of Genius," will both helm the project and write its script, pulling from Colin Escott's 2009 biography.
There isn't a release date yet, but "I Saw the Light" is expected to begin production in Louisiana in October.
