Drew Barrymore jokes that she has "no brain capacity to do anything right now," but duty still calls for the 39-year-old actress.
With her latest romantic-comedy with Adam Sandler, May 23's "Blended," fast approaching, Barrymore has to be red carpet ready about a month after welcoming her second daughter, Frankie.
Undoubtedly part of that promotional push is landing on the cover of People magazine. In this week's issue, Barrymore poses on the cover with Frankie, who was born on April 22. With Frankie being baby no. 2 - the actress and her husband, Will Kopelman, welcomed daughter Olive in 2012 - Barrymore says she knew she had to have a rapidly recover after the delivery.
"I knew that I have two kids to take care of now and just kicked my own butt to get back into the swing of things immediately," Barrymore tells People. "They're awake and asleep at different times, or awake at the same time, and it's a juggling act a little bit."
After having Olive, the actress thought twice about continuing her film career, but working with similarly family-oriented actors like Sandler has helped.
"I didn't think I could go back to work, honestly. I didn't want to be away from my kids and it just wasn't the priority," Barrymore recalls. "With Adam, he makes everything really safe because he really creates an environment where kids can come and be a part of it. It was a really big lesson for me."
