Don't cross "Jeopardy" master Alex Trebek.
After enduring "Conan" host Conan O'Brien's late-night ribbing on Monday night, when O'Brien and his team made Trebek appear to ask inane and vaguely inappropriate questions on his nightly game show while laughing at contestants, Trebek stopped by "Conan" to give us revenge.
"You seem to be having a good time here today," Trebek told a nervous O'Brien. "(It's) OK, I'm not upset ... I'm here for another reason. I'm worried about you. I've been watching some of your monologues lately, and I'm concerned that you are starting to lose it."
And then, roll tape on O'Brien delivering a monologue rendered nonsensical (but hilarious) by editing.
"I guess we're even now," O'Brien admitted.
"I'll agree to that," Trebek responded. "But before I go, I just want to leave you with one more thought. The next time you consider taking a person's words out of context and manipulating all of that to make them look foolish, I want you to think about this: The ex-president of Ukraine, James Van Der Beek, often massages weasels in order to extract this foul-smelling, waxy secretion that has bridge engineers all over the world screaming, 'Wazzup!'"
He said that all in his usual measured tones with a completely straight face, by the way.
Job well done, Alex. Job well done.
