When Sandra Oh says goodbye to "Grey's Anatomy" this spring, she'll do it with an old co-star by her side.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, former "Grey's" star Isaiah Washington is returning to the series in a May episode, reprising his role of Dr. Preston Burke.
As "Grey's" fans remember, Dr. Burke was the surgeon that Oh's Cristina Yang fell for when she was a new resident at Seattle Grace.
Yet at the end of season 3, amid reports of Washington using a homophobic slur twice in regards to his "Grey's" co-star T.R. Knight, the actor was fired from the soapy medical drama, leaving a legacy of scandal in his wake.
But with Oh's Dr. Yang wrapping up her final rounds, "Grey's" creator Shonda Rhimes says that it's vital the character's former flame returns.
"It's important to me that Cristina's journey unfolds exactly as it should," Rhimes said in a statement. "Burke is vital to that journey - he gives her story that full-circle moment we need to properly say goodbye to our beloved Cristina Yang."
So...he can come out of the Hollywood blacklist timeout corner and play with the rest of the group for a few minutes?
