The anticipation for "Godzilla" and "Jupiter Ascending" has been so thick we couldn't even decide which teaser trailer to watch first.
Both action films are due out in 2014, and both embrace a fantastical plot that's the set-up for some stunning visuals. As the first looks show, if nothing else both "Godzilla" and "Jupiter Ascending" should be beautiful to watch.
"Godzilla" will be the first to arrive next May, with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen and Bryan Cranston being a few of the stars that are faced with the total destruction wrought by the radioactive monster, "Godzilla."
Directed by Gareth Edwards, this "Godzilla" is a reboot of the original 1954 film. "To me, he's like a force of nature, like the wrath of God or vengeance for the way we've behaved," Edwards told USA Today. "I want it to be epic. I want to get the hairs on the back of your neck up."
The hairs on the back of your neck might also stand up with "Jupiter Ascending," although for a different reason.
With Channing Tatum starring as a "perfect hunting machine" on a mission to protect Mila Kunis' Jupiter Jones of the title, the storyline is ripe for some romantic tension.
Written and directed by Andy and Lana Wachowski, "Jupiter Ascending" follows Kunis' Jupiter as she tries to stay alive after the Queen of the Universe orders her killed because she poses a threat to the throne. The first film from the Wachowski siblings since they tackled "Cloud Atlas," "Jupiter Ascending" is due out on July 25, 2014.
