Roseanne Barr says she quits TV, maybe for 'geriatric porn'

We were so close, and yet apparently still so far, to seeing Roseanne Barr back on TV.

The actress let it all hang out on Twitter over the weekend, describing in 140-character snippets why she's "never going to work in television again."

"I'm going to start doing porn now, f*** it," Barr posted on November 30. "That's right, geriatric porn. I'm never going to work in television again. I'm never going to even attempt it. I feel as if I've been insulted/assaulted for over a year."

Actually, scratch that - "for many years," Barr self-corrected. "From my first reality show to my second and my two failed development deals. Don't call me - I won't call you. I'm gone."

It has been a rough ride for Barr lately, as her reality show "Roseanne's Nuts" was canceled by Lifetime in 2011, and an NBC sitcom that would've reunited the 61-year-old star with her "Roseanne" co-hort, John Goodman, never made it past the pilot stage in 2012.

In June, fresh news that Barr had moved on to developing a new sitcom that she would also star in surfaced, but, apparently, that project hasn't gone so well.

"I don't have the emotional stability to withstand being manipulated and lied to anymore-now that I'm old," Barr told her Twitter followers. "(D)evelopment process went like this: show runner disappeared for 7 weeks - never returned any calls from me - I was told she 'goes (into) a cave' ... I was also told that this was 'her process' - and that the result would be fantastic. I asked why I had been removed totally from the process. They had less than no interest in including me in the development of a show that was built on 'my brand.' It was horrible, but I kept on (because) I had to see it through out of a bizarre interest in the outcome."

Barr also wasn't happy with the script, which she's described as lacking in jokes and hard to connect with.

After all of that, it's no surprise that "all of hollywood" has been calling her up to hear her story.

"I'm writing directing editing & starring in my new show by myself. F*** everybody," Barr said on Twitter. "Here's my statement: I am done being mentally tortured - I quit."

D-Day..."Funny, she seems as fed up as her coworkers were back in the day working with her crazy a$$."
Roseanne Barr and the Roseanne Show put a lot of coin in the pockets of A LOT of people both on and off screen. They made their millions (as did she) from HER BRAND. If the idiots at NBC development need someone like RB to bring them back from the brink of comedy hell. They are getting their comedy pants beaten by ABC (Modern Family) and CBS (Big Bang, 2 Broke Girls, Mike & Molly, HIM Your Mother, and 2-1/2 Men) and Fox (New Girls, RaisingHope) so what do new and fresh comedies does NBC have since they lost 30 Rock? Nothing new has made it past 6 weeks.

Ms Barr deserves the respect she has earned for producers. Screw NBC, girl. There are other networks. Hell, try Netflix, they're the new big thing.

I recall watching an episode of Rosanne. After a half hour of not laughing it occurred to me this was supposed to be a SITCOM, situational comedy, and it was failing miserably. There is nothing funny about Rosanne. She is repugnant to look at, displeasing in vocal tenor, and what emits from her piehole just is not humorous or entertaining. Sad endstate for a "comedian". Go away forever, Rosanne. Let someone else take their turn at bat.

I'd like to see an episode of Cops where they apprehend an intoxicated and unruly Rosanne by tazing, throw her in the back seat for transport to the klink as she howls and wails and aggravates the officers, then she gets a full body cavity search, hose down, and is incarcerated with the general population of ghetto creatures. Now that would be funny.

It's time for her to call it quits. Best thing she did was Roseanne & that was just ok.

Roseanne was ok. One of the funniest epi's was when they found an old joint in the drawer & went in the bathroom & smoked it. That one made me lol.
