'The Sound of Music': First look at NBC's live event

With NBC's live "The Sound of Music" premiering in less than a month, the show's stars are hard at work.

In our first look at the three-hour performance, which is based on the 1959 Rodgers and Hammerstein stage musical, star Carrie Underwood gives us a glimpse at just how well she'll fit the iconic role of Maria Von Trapp.

Joining Underwood will be "True Blood" star Stephen Moyer, who's been cast as Captain Von Trapp. (We almost didn't recognize him in the trailer without his pallor and vamp teeth!)

With last year's Oscars producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan executive-producing, the live event is scheduled to bow on December 5. What do you think - does this trailer hint at good things to come?

Isn't Carrie Underwood the country music American Idol winner who sold her country music fan base out to urban radical animal rights groups?

One thing is certain. If you want controversy, Carrie Underwood is the first choice to make. People either love her for what she does on stage; or hate her for the egocentricity she displays off stage. She apparently has a lot of fans, but few friends, and even fewer happy co-workers. If I were a producer sinking the money into a project to remake a classic like Sound of Music ... and I wanted at least a 50-50 chance of getting good reviews ... Carrie Underwood is the last person I would consider for the lead role. The gall is simply carrying too much baggage.

In reading CNN's Terms of Service–I don't think most of these comments are "lively and couteous"–but just filth from lowlifes. Would you jerks like your children to see you making these comments?

Being the degenerate, self-serving conservative that I am, anne, the answer is yes.

The problem is the woman is two bit lowlife who sold out the rural people who made her famous and rich to the urban radical animal rights wackos like HSUS and PETA.
