As hard as it is to imagine, Jennifer Lawrence was once scolded to lose weight.
In the November issue of Harper's Bazaar U.K. (via JustJared.com), the 23-year-old actress recalls a moment - one that she describes as the "kind of s*** that actresses have to go through" - when she was told she "was fat, (and) that I was going to get fired if I didn’t lose a certain amount of weight."
Lawrence didn't say what age she was when that happened, only that she was young. (And remember, this is a star who appeared in her first credited film around age 16.)
"They brought in pictures of me where I was basically naked, and told me to use them as motivation for my diet," Lawrence described to the magazine. "It was just that."
Yet it was also enough to leave a lasting impression on the Oscar winner, who said that some have assumed her success has somehow erased her memory.
When someone recently brought up the incident, "they thought that because of the way my career had gone, it wouldn’t still hurt me," Lawrence told Harper's Bazaar U.K. "That somehow, after I won an Oscar, I’m above it all. ‘You really still care about that?’ Yeah. I was a little girl. I was hurt. It doesn’t matter what accolades you get."
But one thing has changed since her career has taken off with projects like "The Hunger Games" and "Silver Linings Playbook": "I know it’ll never happen to me again," she said. "If anybody even tries to whisper the word ‘diet’, I’m like, ‘You can go f*** yourself.'"
Just another reason we love Jennifer Lawrence. The actress will next appear in "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" on November 22, followed by David O. Russell's "American Hustle" on December 25.
