On Monday, current “Bachelorette” Desiree Hartsock got an unexpected twist in her journey to find love.
Since “The Bachelorette” returned in May, we’ve watched Desiree whittle down the contenders to three guys: Chris, Drew and Brooks. The foursome traveled to Antigua on Monday before she decided whom she wants to spend the rest of her life with.
Her dates with Drew and Chris gave her more insight into their future goals, plans and childhood experiences. But when it came time to spend the day with Brooks, he caught her off guard with a conversation that led to his departure from the show.
Although Desiree was head over heels for Brooks, he told her he had reservations about their relationship. Apparently, he doubted his feelings for Des when he wasn’t around her, which led him to believe that she wasn’t the woman for him.
“I’m not in love with her entirely,” he said. “You can’t force something like love.”
Des told Brooks she loved him, but that didn’t change the obvious and teary-eyed Brooks headed home. Des was so heartbroken after her conversation with Brooks that she said she didn’t know where to go from there.
To make matters worse, hardcore “Bachelor”/”Bachelorette” fans have watched this happen to Des before. On the last season of “The Bachelor,” she was one of the final four women trying to win over Sean Lowe, but he sent her packing in favor of getting to know the other three ladies.
Chris Harrison, the host of the “Bachelor” and “Bachelorette,” couldn’t resist weighing in after last night’s episode on his blog, and “The Bachelor” nation was in an uproar online after the shocking twist.
What now? "The Bachelorette" will conclude on next Monday’s two-hour episode.
