In case it wasn't obvious that Bryan Cranston is a man who loves his job, the actor has a tattoo to prove it.
At the Los Angeles premiere for "Breaking Bad's" final season on Wednesday, Cranston showed off the "Breaking Bad"-inspired ink he's gotten on the inside of his right ring finger.
"It's our logo, 'Br Ba,'" Cranston explained. "Someone said, 'Don't get a tattoo there, because you can't see it.' And I went, 'No, this is for me.' So every time I catch a glimpse of it, it just makes me smile."
Cranston's co-star, Aaron Paul, told Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show" Tuesday that several of the "Breaking Bad" team turned out to get tattoos as they were wrapping up a final day of filming.
"(I said) we should all get tattoos at the end of the day - it was a joke, and then it ended up turning into a reality," Paul said. The actor himself had a snippet of dialogue inscribed on the inside of his arm, inspired by "an episode called 'Half Measures.' There's a line in that episode that says, 'no half measures,' so it's all about, just giving it your all, always."
Cranston's new tattoo did catch his wife, Robin, off-guard, and the actor teased that "it's like a gang sign - only it’s a gang of chemists, so I wouldn’t be afraid.”
Jokes aside, the permanence of his body art reflects his feelings about his work for the past five years on "Breaking Bad."
"This experience, this character, was the greatest of my career. I don't anticipate having a character that is this rich again," Cranston said. "I think any actor would look at [me] and go, 'What a lucky bastard he was.' And I would be the first to agree. I was very lucky. I was in the right place at the right time and I got this role. I grabbed it, embraced it, and it's hard for me now that it's over to voluntarily let it go. But yet, that's exactly what I have to do."
The final episodes of "Breaking Bad" will debut starting August 11.
