For fans of Adam Lambert, Ryan Murphy has some news to sing about.
The "Glee" co-creator tweeted Wednesday that the "Idol" alum will bring his talents to the Fox comedy this fall.
Lambert is joining the crew at McKinley High just as the cast is getting shaken up. TVLine reported last month that "Glee" stars Mark Salling, Amber Riley, Heather Morris and Harry Shum, Jr. are going to have reduced roles during the show's upcoming fifth season. Another "Glee" original, Dianna Agron, is expected to only make occasional guest appearances.
Meanwhile, New Directions newcomers Melissa Benoist, Jacob Artist, Becca Tobin, Blake Jenner and Alex Newell are getting bumped up to series regulars.
It's unclear whether Lambert will be a consistent presence on "Glee" or just a guest star, and Murphy hasn't revealed what role he'll have yet.
Lambert, already a fan of "Glee," is ready to get to work. "I'm so excited!" he tweeted to Murphy after the showrunner shared the news.
The fifth season of "Glee" returns to Fox on September 19 at 9 p.m.
