Kim Deals' days as a Pixie are over.
The bassist and one of the founding members of the Pixies has decided to quit the influential band, according to Pixies' remaining members Black Francis, Joey Santiago and David Lovering. News of Deal's departure came via a message on their Facebook page.
"We are sad to say that Kim Deal has decided to leave the Pixies," the statement said. "We are very proud to have worked with her on and off over the last 25 years. Despite her decision to move on, we will always consider her a member of the Pixies, and her place will always be here for her. We wish her all the best."
The Pixies haven't toured since 2011 and no reason has been given for why Deal left, but this isn't the first time: the band, which formed in 1986, also split in the early 1990s. Deal went on to form the Breeders.
Deal and the Pixies reunited in 2004 and even toured in honor of their 1989 release, "Doolittle."
Meanwhile, the Breeders and Deal have been busy touring for the 20th anniversary of their 1993 album, "Last Splash."
