Portia de Rossi is perfectly content being a TV Netflix mom.
Off-screen, however, babies just aren’t in the cards for the “Arrested Development” star and her talk show host wife of nearly five years, Ellen DeGeneres.
“There comes some pressure in your mid-30s, and you think, ‘Am I going to have kids so I don’t miss out on something that other people really seem to love? Or is it that I really genuinely want to do this with my whole heart?’ ” de Rossi told OUT magazine.
“I didn’t feel that my response was ‘yes’ to the latter,” she continued. “You have to really want to have kids, and neither of us did. So it’s just going to be me and Ellen and no babies - but we’re the best of friends and married life is blissful, it really is. I’ve never been happier than I am right now.”
De Rossi is currently gearing up for “Arrested Development’s” fourth season, to premiere on Netflix May 26.
She plays Lindsay Bluth Fünke, mom to daughter Maeby, on the series that aired on Fox from 2003 to 2006.
“Some of the funniest stuff I have ever seen in my whole life is in this new season,” she teases.

I savor, cause I discovered exactly what I used to be getting a look for. You've ended my four day long hunt! God Bless you man. Have a great day. Bye 萬用行動電源 http://www.powerbankland.com
I wish more people would make a conscious choice about raising children. Very few people should actually be trusted with parenting a child. And I'm not just talking about obvious cases (abused children).
Ahhh yes, the hot half of Ellen
Its saaaaad! You two will miss the most beautiful gift of all! KIDS!
But its ur choice and ur hapi w/ it so...gudlak guys...
ellen is cool
Yess she is...
THE REAL ELLEN NOT MORON ELLEN
Its time to stay away from attention mongers they do no provide anything to the table other then "look at me" i find these people a bore...
Why should Portia change? If she is happy, and Ellen is happy...then why change? Because you think she should? Not a good enough reason.
Good for them! I think it's great that women make choices – any choice is a good choice! Gay or straight, good for them, I congratulate them on being celebrities and I support their choices. Any choices are good. Any choices, made by celebrity women, gay or straight, are to be celebrated! I'm a brainless moron!
Stfup all u britches mr.chow reeds his bruty sweep! braybies no braybies who gives a frying ruck? its none of yur brizness no how so stfup britches! ha ha ha ha......@
best of luck to portia..
Well, I didn't know Ellen was married, and Lesbian. That's just akward, considering all the time Taylor Swift spent with her.
The earth is round too...
Smart women.....child bearing and raising is a trick from the "ancients". It promotes more humans which at this time, we do not need; it also traps people into a nurturing mode which is a controlling and brain bashing place. No babies sounds like a winner to me !
everyone needs to grow up
it shouldnt matter who raises n produces children. as long as they r taken care of properly. if ellen n portia want children or not its their choice. i think. they would b awsome parents .
Glad to hear women who can make their own decisions about having children. Too many people have them and shouldn't.
true. It takes wisdom to know it is not for you !
however good luck too both
Straight or Gay, A child demand such of attention that I who happens to enter this area two yrs ago would never recommend anybody to bring a baby to this world.
The things is that been a professional, working and living in NYC for most of my life now at age of 40 my wife and I decided to add to our family which is a blessing but the changes to our life style and work is been crazy...
The worries about daycare, education even f. The cost of living doesn't help neither but life must go on!!!
Good for them. Every couple is allowed to make that choice, and both choices are just fine. My GF and I have no intention of having kids either. Lots of advantages for us, and yes some things we will miss, but overall we are comfortable with our choice.
No it's not fine. Bringing children into the world with the intention of denying them a mother and father is selfish and undermines the foundation of an advancing culture.
portia and ellen are a little confused.
Sigh. Such filthy, angry, ignorant and vicious comments.
I had 3 kids while married to their dad. They are now adults, I am 58 and new partner just turned 50–we will not be having children either! Portia 40, Ellen 55-granted likely in better physical and financial health than myself and partner, they are both in stable but time consuming carriers that energize them. They could afford children, but they would mostly be raised by hired caregivers, it is a very responsible decision not to have children. I'm sure they find ways of financially and emotionally supporting children that come into contact with their lives, there are other ways to nurture children that do not require 24 hour parenting. I would not want to be just launching children into the world when I am 60-80 years old!.
Portia is cool
90% blocked ...thanks
Just because someone is female doesn't mean she has to want kids.
You will have a happy life with no brats in it. Kids are a pain in the a$$.
As you apparently were to your parents.
have a great weekend!
You finally figured out how that's supposed to work, huh?
Ten bucks says if Ellen lost her show & suddenly wasnt in the limelight Portia would be in a man's arms in no time
Not everyone feels the call of parenthood. That's what makes the world so interesting, no one is the same, or has to be.
Must be a slow news day today...CNN is concerned with this nonsense. We have a real crisis in North Korea and CNN is covering this nonsense...
You are right. Why are they reporting entertainment news on an entertainment blog? I wonder? Just makes no sense. lmao
Oh.. yeah now i know what they mean~! Right they mean they will not be using a mans contribution..
As if having children were a natural biological option for them anyway.....
Mud is a good name for you, but I can think of even better ones....
@Maleficent... and Maleficent is a good name for you, but I can think of better ones.
Well I've got a good name for all of you: DUMBS#IT
I think that Ellen and Portia are the iconic lesbian couple. Im a big fan of Ellen . And if they choose not to have kids , its their choice. But I do think that they will be awesome parents. Does anyone else agree
sadly I disagree
I wouldnt donate seed to either of them
why populate the US with genes such as Ellens?
Don't worry, no one wants the "seed" of a toothless hillbilly with a 2nd grade education. So you're cool on that front.
I disagree. See comment below.
How can they choose to have children? Neither one has a penis or maybe they both do.
@LittleRicky: Right, why populate the world with more happy, successful, funny, intelligent self-made people... when we can have more of your useless, unwanted kind?
"And if they choose not to have kids , its their choice." It's not their "choice". It's biologically impossible.
They can "choose" to adopt. They can "choose" IVF. So it's not impossible for them to have a baby.
I'm relieved to hear this. Every time I've seen Ellen D. interacting with kids on her show, I think there is a woman who does not have a great love for children. She just doesn't connect.
Kudos to these women for admitting they aren't kid people. Too many women have kids "so they won't miss out on something." I agree that motherhood should be more than just another thing you tick off on the list.
Same goes for men.
Guest1, this is about two women deciding to forgo having children. Therefore, I spoke only of women.
I applaud them! there's enough people in world already
Good grief. I'd try to explain it to you but I just don't know where to begin.
B( o )( o )BIES. She does. I've seen 'em.
I do love children and have all of them over for the weekend.....i want a weekend with 8 children all too myself at times......broadway shows, movies, parks, carnivals–i do not take them too beaches or pools because i tend to be afraid of them in the water so i create other types of fun.
of course i need help with these weekend projects so my friend serafina is a mom and pitches in too make sure i'm ok.....i do not have the experience of being alone with children 24 hours day so i need the help.
when they head home they tell their parents they had the best weekend ever–children are not for everyone, i have another family member who is happy the way she is also and she takes all our cousins kids for a weekend of fun as well
in our family the kids view us as their weekend of fun, no parents just fun–LOLOL
Its great that she's honest about it and not feeling social pressure to reproduce. Many peeople probably should do the same process before having kids they don't really want.
It's not possible for her to "reproduce" unless she has something contributed from a man.
I'm not feeling portia's haircut....why did she do that.
Haha!! Very Celestia!
Its their business. ellen's cool.
Smart women and aware of how u would explain to a child the relatiinship. I know 20 yr olds with 5 nothing to offer any future and manythanks to epidurals 6 is on the way disgusting all around good job ellen n p
what an amazing woman. when it seems that so many celebrities have children for the publicity it gets them, how absolutely wonderful that Portia and Ellen have actually taken the child itself into consideration and made a compassionate and intelligent decision. i certainly admired this couple before, but my respect for them has skyrocketed.
I love Ellen and think she is one of the most compassionate, giving people on earth. If she and her beautiful Portia don't want kids, it's nobody else's business. In fact, I wish more stars wouldn't have kids, so they can give them stupid names like Listerine Gargoyle, Banana Peach and other such stupidity.
That is so great. It is refreshing to see someone consider the mental health of children more important than themselves. I stopped watching the today show after one of the hosts announced her medically induced pregnancy by male sperm so she can raise the child to think males aren't required for children with two mom's.
these 2 are awesome as they are . people dont need children to make them happy and if they are happy already having children could change that so why mess up a good thing. i think too many people have children for all the wrong reasons so kudos to them for thinking it through. children are a blessing if its what you truly want in your heart of hearts.
Of course they're not going to "have" babies. Are you really that fricking dense that you felt it necessary to explain that to everyone?
FKing troll...that has nothing to do with this article. Crawl back under your rock, troll.
That stopabortion's parents didn't excercise their legal right to have one. They should consider a retroactive abortion for their stupid little troll.
1. Race: the case is brimming with racially sensitive issues, and "Dr. Kermit Gosnel" whose name is Gosnell and who is NOT a doctor - is black.
2. Politics: people like you, "stopabortionnow", have taken the subject of abor_tion off the table. Everyone is scared of becoming a victim of your witch hunt.
3. Too many public agencies dropped the ball for too many years. I suspect there are a few people with connections keeping this out of the news.
there is. but you clicked on the "entertainment" tab. and the story you are looking for wouldn't be considered "entertainment".
i get that people have their own beliefs...but i don't get the pro-lifers. i don't get how you have a very black and white issue...how you believe you have the right to decide what anyone else chooses. it's a very armchair quarterback like cause - sitting there, telling people what is "right" by your beliefs, disregarding anyone else's values, and then judging on so many levels.
i'm a vegan - and i do my own thing, live by my own philosophy, and never once have i put my beliefs on someone else. i get heckled a lot. i get people trying to debate me or tell me why we are supposed to eat this or that or made fun of...and all the while, i just do my own thing and try not to be bothered by those people. i know what it's like to feel so passionate about something...and to not have people see what you value as "right". but you have to respect other people's choices. you don't have to agree with it...but you can't go around condemning people's actions on a topic that is polarized.
i'm pro-choice for so many reasons. i have a higher education in the sciences and work in science and perhaps my views on conception are different. (and i assure you the story you were looking for before you clicked on this one is horrifying to virtually everyone, pro-life or pro-choice.) my values are different. that's life.
if you want to change the world about something you are so passionate about, you can't do it by judging. that just falls on deaf ears. you have to start making positive changes, inspire through your actions, etc. you can never make change by saying "i'm right, you're wrong, and shame on you and your choices". it'll get you nowhere.
Let's all just make up stuff in attempts to legitimize our baseless prejudices.
@joek did you hear that from Faux News? You are an imbecile and completely moronic. Sheep will be sheep, though, so not surprised by your statement.
Recent studies show bigoted idiots without 2 brain cells to rub together are most likely to raise window licking children with no chance of having a good relationship with anyone outside of the barn yard..
I think you misspelled your screen name and it should be joke...because you are one. Seriously?! A straight couple has 2% chance of "messing up" and having a gay child?! How insulting can you be? IT IS NOT A CONCIOUS CHOICE, IT IS BIOLOGICAL. Of course, I'm sure you are someone who believes that someone who is truly gay can be "fixed" too.
What's your point? She didn't get into
HOW they would've become parents.
"Make a baby the right way?" What planet did you just drop from? Scratch that...what era are you from? Ever hear of a slightly popular thing called...adoption?! Artificial insemination?! Even straight people do those things.
And That is why it's not normal...nuf said....
"Adam and Eve" is a made up fable.
When Adam and Eve did @nal, the resulting “birth” was your ancestor.
I believe the first rule in your fairy tale book is to let your boogie man in the sky do the judging and keep your closet minded stupidity to yourself.
Amen, brother or sister. Amen-ironic choice of words, right? lmao. I guess a better choice would be, right on!
