Jason Bateman's grateful he got 'Arrested'

Jason Bateman has a crazy long resume, but the actor told CNN that he thinks "Arrested Development" was a turning point in his career.

"I wasn't doing much of anything before that show," the actor, who'll next appear in the dramatic thriller "Disconnect," said Tuesday. "I was just really fortunate that that was a show that was watched by those who hand out jobs in Hollywood. There are some shows that are big hits that are watched by middle America but not seen by Los Angeles and New York, and maybe opportunities for people on those shows are not as deep as some of the things that we were given the opportunity to do coming off of that show, so I feel very very fortunate.”

So fortunate, in fact, that "Arrested Development's" return on Netflix even prompted him to start using Twitter.

"Social media I'm not great with," Bateman admitted. "I just can't believe that people would really be interested in, 'traffic's crazy today,' or, 'boy, the line is long at Starbucks today.' I just don't think people would care about that with me. But every once in a while when I've got something that perhaps people might be interested in regarding some work coming up, maybe."

Netflix recently announced that "Arrested" will premiere May 26, much to the delight of fans - which, of course, would include Bateman.

"It's a privilege to be a part of something that so many people love, because we obviously love it so much, those of us that do it," he said. "So we can kind of relate. We feel very fortunate to be on the inside of the ropes there, because we kind of see it as fans, too. You know, when we read those new scripts, it's pretty lucky."
