HBO cancels 'Enlightened'After two seasons, "Enlightened's" light has been snuffed out. HBO confirmed on Tuesday that the series, which stars co-creator Laura Dern as a woman whose attempts to live a more enlightened life has unexpected consequences, isn't returning for a third round.
“It was a very difficult decision," HBO said. "We’re proud of the show and we look forward to working with [co-creator] Mike White and Laura Dern in the future." But as we've seen through the advent of Kickstarter funding a movie based on a defunct TV series and Netflix resurrecting cult favorites, some fans aren't losing hope that "Enlightened" could return. "Everyone Tweet @netflix RIGHT NOW," comedian/actor Patton Oswalt tweeted Tuesday night. "Ask them to pick up 'Enlightened.' Followers...ASSEMBLE! At my signal, unleash hell!"

the lies, the movies and whatever all backfired because in the end when all is said and done its about Madonna.
While it was not my favorite show, I did like the fact that it had a female lead. I felt overall that the show, while exploring some interesting concepts, was a tad too zany. I didn't fully connect with the lead character because frankly at many points we questioned her sanity. I think it was a poor choice by the writer to make our protagonist unstable, it created a distance with the audience. I will however continue to love Laura Dern. I also really enjoyed watching the interaction between mother and daughter. I think she should pitch a show for herself and her mother (Diane Ladd). But perhaps make it more centered and believable. These two are great actors and given the right material could really knock the ball out of the park. I commend Mike Smith for showing us something different.
