Country hitmaker Jack Greene dies

Country singer Jack Greene, whose hits include "There Goes My Everything," has died from complications related to Alzheimer’s disease. He was 83.

According to a statement, Greene died in his sleep at his home in Nashville on Thursday.

A native of Maryville, Tennessee, Greene started out in the industry at 17 with jobs in radio. By 1964, he'd recorded and released his first solo single, "The Last Letter." His first Top 40 hit, "Ever Since My Baby Went Away," followed in 1966.

That year was kind to Greene, as it also boasted his No. 1 cut "There Goes My Everything," which stayed atop the country chart for seven weeks. The album bearing the same title cruised at No. 1 on the chart for an entire year, the statement says.

In 1967, the same year he became a member of the Grand Ole Opry, Greene was a big winner at the first Country Music Association Awards. He picked up honors for the Album, Song and Single of the Year with "There Goes My Everything," which also won him the title of Male Vocalist of the Year.

Greene's most recent album was a 2010 compilation of duets called "Precious Memories, Treasured Friends."

The crooner's fellow Opry member Blake Shelton recalled performing with Greene at the music institution.

"Very sad to hear about the passing of Jack Green," Shelton wrote on Twitter. "He and I performed his song 'Statue of a Fool' at the Opry years ago.. True hero."

Added singer Gene Watson, "So sorry to hear that country music legend Jack Greene has died. He was a great singer, and an even better friend."

Details regarding funeral arrangements are still to come.

I have learned some considerations through your blog post. One other point I would like to say is that there are several games on the market designed particularly for toddler age kids. They consist of pattern acknowledgement, colors, animals, and styles. These typically focus on familiarization as an alternative to memorization. This keeps little children engaged without having the experience like they are studying. Thanks

    Tribute song for Jack Greene

Solid Gold Statue (Larry W. Jones – Kingwood Kowboy)

If ever there needs to be
    An award for integrity
To a love that's as pure as gold
Then build a solid gold statue
Of the one who owns my love
    Greatest love story ever told

    Build a solid gold statue
And let it shine for a love that's true
    Then engrave on its base
That nothing can replace my love for you

    And on that golden face
A lovely smile should be placed
To show the world what pleasantness you bring
    Never a single trace
Of a tear out of place
Of lasting happiness you make me sing

    – instrumental –

    And on that golden face
A lovely smile should be placed
To show the world what pleasantness you bring
    Never a single trace
Of a tear out of place
Of lasting happiness you make me sing

    Build a solid gold statue
And let it shine for a love that's true
    Then engrave on its base
That nothing can replace my love for you

    Build a solid gold statue
And let it shine for a love that's true
    Then engrave on its base
That nothing can replace my love for you

Jack Greene was an amazing singer. His last number # 1 hit was last year at the age of 82. A duet with Nathan Osmond (Nephew to Donny & Marie) with his remake of "There's A Whole Lot About A Woman". A great song by both Jack Greene & Nathan Osmond.

"There Goes My Everything" was covered in the late 1960's by Englebert Humperdinck. As was his first hit (at least the British singer's first American hit) "Release Me"–itself a cover of a country song (originally recorded by Ray Price a decade or so earlier).

"There Goes My Everything" was covered late-'60's-ish by Englebert Humperdinck. (Ironically, his first hit [at least here in America] back in 1967 was also a cover of a country song–Ray Price's 1950's classic "Release Me."
