Our five fave celeb reactions to Pope's electionIn the excitement over Pope Francis being elected, some stars couldn't help but tweet a few tongue-in-cheek reactions. As the white smoke signaled that Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio was the new leader of the Catholic Church, actors like Seth Rogen and Kristen Bell, TV personalities like Carson Daly, and even writer Joyce Carol Oates gave their own pithy responses. Here are our favorite responses - if you spotted one that we didn't include, share it in the comments!

About this blog
Our daily cheat-sheet for breaking celebrity news, Hollywood buzz and your pop-culture obsessions. |
Do we REALLY care what celebrities think? I sure as hell don't.
Corporations and organizations which cover up child abuse should be rendered defunct. How can we applaud, or even accept it as normality, the election of a leader whose beliefs and teachings include hate?
now she would it yes.
I don't understand the Kristen Bell one...what thunder did she steal?...and I bet she wouldn't say that to his face.
She is not afraid of him....when he is ready they will look at each other and speak.
She's not afraid of him...you must be her assistant or something...thanks for giving me inside scoop.
There are some nutcases in the world...(sigh).
No more war, no more fights, no more evil.....that is what i told my crew and that is what i'm telling these moron bloggers everybody will get along as best as they can..we do not have too be the same too get along as individuals.

just watch tv
CNN did not of course print the more OBSCENE quotes from more liberal fantatic celebs. I hardly ever go to the movies anymore. They disgust me.
Carson Daly thank you for showing respect and integrity when commenting on the Pope. The other's listed could take a lesson from you .
I agree. Whenever I read things like this I always remember a song called Be Not Afraid. There is a verse of the song that says, "and if wicked men insult and hate you all because of me, Blessed, Blessed are you."
but ga head...so we can all make fun of you 1 more time
I would like the same reaction from the butt-sniffing liberals in Hollywood when talking about Muslims!
Good point.
Comedians make plenty of Muslim jokes, pay attention. Oh, sorry, paying attention to facts doesn't suit your conservative agenda, obviously.

Get your hands off me old man
you have no idea how the corporate religious world operates...- jerk
the bank offered the pope a job in a new area–what a jerk
People who don't believe, or don't understand, always have negative things to say about this kind of thing. It's really sad.
God loves all even non-believers.
.. exept gay people..
*except
Yet, no one really cares what non-believers think. Asking an Anti-Catholic person to comment on the Election of a new Holy Father, Is like asking Adolf Hitler to comment on the opening of a new Jewish Temple. What answer do you think you are going to get?
i cannot believe how their is so many negative people in this life he is humble and that tells a lot from a person. half of these famous people are ignorant and very rude. wow very dissapointed.. i am a christian but i am happy for the new pope very humble man how it should be always...
What ignorant people.
I am a proud of being Catholic and happy for Pope Francis I. I think the comments are rude and distasteful. This is a wonderful experience. Why make such comments. Maybe you shouldn't comment at all. I wish many good things for Pope Francis I. May God Bless him always!!
They are all very rude and distasteful! What else do you expect from anyone in Hollywood these days! They are also arrogant, narcisstic and disrespectful. If you don't embrace their Hollywood liberalism – then you are nothing. And they basically hate the Roman Catholic Church, so why not go after the new Pope. Unfortunately, as much digging as the press is doing to destroy this man – the press is is having a difficult time finding anything but good things to report about him.
Maybe the Hollywood liberals would all do themselves justice if they looked up the word "humble" and acted on it.
If these were CNN's favorites, I'd hate to see the "losing" ones.
Oh look, Seth Rogan making a (gasp) marijuana joke. He didn't become irrelevant fast enough.
Looks like the Easter bunny made an early delivery of chocolate eggs to my underwear.
You ought to hide those eggs so your neighbor can find them.
420 million Hispanics and 1.2 billion other catholics were smiling today. Kind of puts these celebrities in perspective, no.
I really expected them to pick Tim Tebow
lol...
best of luck
Ya mean no one tweeted about that stupid seagull standing on top of the smoke stack? I swear if I heard about that bird 1 more time...
"peace"
No one. As fast as it would come on 1 of the news channels I'd switch to another & low & behold...there was that bird again. All I wanted was to have my cup of coffee, some news, & start my day, bird free. As the Stones would say, "You can't always get what you want".
I saw that bird and I wanted to pelt it with turd burgers.
I have one right now. I do, and it kind of hurts...
Great article. Now excuse me while I head over to my neighbor's house and drop a diaper load of trouser chili on the kitchen floor.
I left a big poopsicle in my neighbors freezer.
Nice! He can eat the poopsicle for breakfast, along with a couple of tasty poop tarts.
Seth Rogen for the WIN!
I want to fill his big hat full of my stink nuggets and put it on his head.
It's a very large hat and will require many stink nuggets. Please let me know if you need additional butt bagels.
Hehe butt bagels. I will let you know if more rectal warriors are needed for the job.
That pretty well sums up Hollywood; disrespectful and rude. I'm not Catholic but I certainly know when to show respect
Please enlighten us as to the appropriate time to show respect for an organization run by old men in dresses who beg for people's money so they can spend it on giant golden palaces and PR spin campaigns for pedophiles.
I need a cigarette.
They sound like embiciles.
I agree. The forget verses like Colossians 2:8 whish says Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
Actually, Jesus designates his Apostle Peter as the first leader of his church in the Bible. After the resurrection, he appears to some of the Apostles who are fishing and tells them to be "fishers of men."
