Justin Timberlake delivers 'SNL' ratings highNo wonder "Saturday Night Live" keeps asking Justin Timberlake to return. The 32-year-old pop star/actor hosted the sketch comedy show for the fifth time on Saturday, and delivered "SNL's" highest ratings in 14 months.
The singer was joined by celebrities like Tom Hanks, Candice Bergen, Steve Martin, "SNL" alum Andy Samberg, Alec Baldwin and more during the broadcast, which according to preliminary numbers had a 5.9 rating among metered-market households. According to The Hollywood Reporter, those are the biggest ratings the series has seen since Charles Barkley hosted in January 2012. Now an old pro, Timberlake gave a successful performance as both the host and the musical guest. He appeared in multiple segments last night, and was, "as always, a great host," said The Huffington Post's Mike Ryan. "[W]hen Justin Timberlake hosts 'Saturday Night Live,' it's going to be, at the very least, a solid show," he said. Billboard called Timberlake's edition "one of the show's best episodes of the season," yet, as The Atlantic has pointed out, it also stuck to familiar ground. "Final thoughts on the night: the episode was very familiar. It was filled with familiar faces doing familiar things ... [with] Timberlake, the most celebrated host of the last decade, doing old Timberlake characters," the recap said. "But oh well, it as great, and we enjoyed it." Someone who might not have dug the episode as much - if he even paid attention to it being on, that is - would be Kanye West. The rapper seemed to diss Timberlake during a performance a few weeks ago, when he called out Timberlake's "Suit & Tie" single with pal and collaborator, Jay-Z. "And I got love for Hov but I ain't f*****g with that 'Suit & Tie,'" West said during the show. So on Saturday night, as Timberlake (along with Jay-Z!) performed the track from his upcoming album, it appeared he got in his own jab in response. Instead of, "s*** so sick, got a hit and picked up a habit," Timberlake crooned, "my hit's so sick got rappers acting dramatic." How well do you think the new "five-timers club" member performed on Saturday? |

good night all...
good afternoon too all!!!
drives women nuts...
This was the best SNL episode I’ve seen in years and Justin Timberlake’s appearance was helped greatly by all the specials guest stars flocking for the five-timers club sketch. I work at DISH and several of my coworkers said that they always tune in to Timberlake since he’s a triple threat. I missed SNL on Saturday, but caught up with it yesterday since I set a timer for it on my DISH Hopper. I like to watch new episodes of my favorite shows on my days off from work, and I can do that without needing to worry about space because my DVR holds up to 2,000 hours of entertainment.

Comedy and skits were awesome !! The "music" – well, if you missed R&B in the 60's or the 70's and wanted to hear what almost made the Top 100 – now you know !! Add Rap to it and call the song, "Hay" – and there you go. You're right where you almost thought you wanted to be.................

The show repeats itself and is a bore.
We knew it was going to be fantastic. He lights up the show with his range of talents, and the 5th time wasn't any different. From Homelessville to Veganville... can we say Hilarious? The guy's got so much going on, on so many dimensions. Entertainment genius.
This was literally the best SNL episode in years. It seemed like SNL was returning to it's roots, with comedians making fun of their worst fears about how other people saw them. And of course, bringing back so many stars from SNL's long history didn't hurt! As far as Timberlake, he seems to be working very hard to rise about his "boy band" roots and be seen as a serious musician and actor. His band "The Tennessee Boys" is definitely a step in the right direction, and even his dancers were pretty classy. I think he has already established his acting chops, so it is getting harder to dismiss Timberlake - I certainly have a lot more respect for him now than I used to. Now, JT is not the greatest vocalist in the world, but he is going the right route by trying to make music that people can feel and get into instead of posing as a virtuoso. In short, Timberlake has matured quite nicely. Oh, and he makes a great dancing tofu too!
thanks!
GOOD DOGGIE JUSTINE
To be honest, whenver they say they are going to put JT on, I watch. His first time hosting had me cracking up dying of laughter and each time he hosts its really great. And the fact that they had on all of the best hosts from before on made it even better. They found a formula that works for JT and it works. Its funny and they kept it relevant even with the Vegan-Ville Harlem Shake skit.
He did a good job.
works for Justin
Timberlake frankly is a refreshing change from a lot of the no-talent 'singers' the music industry has been pushing. He CAN sing; he has good taste; he CAN dance, with absolutely impeccable timing beyond many 'dancers.' He CAN act and, wonderful, he has a sense of humor. It's no surprise people would rather watch something good or great than something labored and tedious, or.....just boring.
Adam Levine had to the worst host in the histroy of the show. I was embarrassed for him until I remembered what an egomaniac he is. Then I didn't feel so bad.
JT went off a SNL staff writer during his last show. It was an ideas exchange forum and when he recommended it, JT says "Someone tell this guy how it works. He should be fired for that". Would have been great if he was not serious, but he was.
"Easy JT. High pitched voice diva with limited range. Your new music sucks. You only got a shot at acting because you are a musician. You wear a suit and tie, but it sure does sounds like s#!%"
