Franco on those 19-hour days and gay rumorsBetween the acting, teaching, directing, working on advanced degrees, producing, and writing poetry, the only logical answer to James Franco's productivity is that the man doesn't sleep. And as it turns out, that's exactly how he gets it all done.
As he tells Details magazine in its March issue, he pulls 19-hour-days and "fights sleep every night," because he considers it "a defeat." "But I'd become incredibly frustrated staying in the lines of my job description as an actor," Franco, 34, says. As a result, he's nearly superhuman in his effort to explore virtually every form of art possible, appearing in six films in 2013 alone. “All you have is what you work on and how hard you work on it," he says. "As far as the results or the reception, it’s out of your hands. That’s something I really had to come to understand.” Next up for him is "Oz: The Great and Powerful," followed by "Spring Breakers," in which he plays a "cornrowed, densely tattooed, gold-grille-mouthed drug lord" named Alien. Interestingly enough, the film required Franco to have a gun put in his mouth not once, but twice. At first, the actor jokes that he must be "a natural" because it was his first time ... until he recalls that he performed oral sex in the movie "Broken Tower." Inevitably, Franco's frank conversation will add more fuel to gossip about his sexuality. All Franco would allude to with Details is a way of thinking he picked up from a former professor. "One of my professors at Yale, Michael Warner - one of the big reasons I went to Yale, really - had been a 19th-century-literature scholar," Franco says. "But as soon as he brought his queer life into that world, it gave him this energy and a realization: It wasn't about being gay but about being different. And that gave me a feeling of enormous permission." |

oh yea.
They sooner they stop writing about him, the sooner he"ll fade into oblivion.....hopefully.
we have it...that is all that matters....
MOVE ALONG
Kudos for his hard work, but no amount of rumors/controversy and no amount of degrees (especially the way he gets them) can make up for a mediocre talent.
GOTCHA....and down she goes....
A good work ethic with highly successful results. Something anyone should be proud of. This is no taker; but a contributing member of society. Before you comment negatively, ask yourself if you are doing anything worth commenting on...I think not, because it is insignificant to the public.
he looks a lot older tnan 34
.
Classic example of doing a lot of things and none really well.
doesn't do those things....he's not bitter towards me....your sir still are.
I'd like a piece of that for myself.
I thought he did a great job as young Luke sky walker in those return to the jedi movies. Despite being a gay......
There are no scenes anywhere in the whole Star Wars saga where we see a young Luke Skywalker.
You probably meant the young Anakin Skywalker in "The Phantom Menace", but that wasn't played by
Franco, the young actor was Jake Lloyd.
He was shacking up with my male buddy's male roommate back in 2003 when my friend was interning in Los Angeles. I'm not sure if he was well known back then, but no one seemed to care and a lot of people know.
Gay or Bi.....it was never a big deal

handsdown-2012
Note to jaw4:Were the illiterate to stop commenting-this place would be most fallow!!!!!
his campus abounds with tales of his non-attendance, no-shows for tests but because of his star status, his grades are stellar . . . . his professors have bought into his hoo-haw. What load of baloney. 19-hour days partying, maybe . . . .
And of course gossip and false rumors are NEVER spread around college campuses.
stop being a hater. hater!
...as a $3 bill.
we all hope he meets the right person down the road.
He is adorable and living the life: young, successful, HOT, and confident. I don't care who he sleeps with – I only hope that he is happy*
Most overrated guy in Hollywood.
So, is he gay or does he swing both ways?
...what would it matter, how would it matter to anyone with a brain?...
It matters because if he's gay, she has no chance with him. If he's bi, there's always hope.
Keep running those 19 hour days and they will run you into an early grave.
Yeah, no kidding. I see a major burnout coming.
Yep 19 hour days will lead to him crapping out early.
Just because you did 13 movies in one year does not equal to quality!
just because you commented on the internet does not equal to good grammar!
LOL be quiet! So true! I know it's not English class but this is ridiculous! I was reading the posts on another story a little while ago and just had to stop. I could not understand most of them! People please stop commenting if you're illiterate.
Actually, Jim, the article stated it will be 6 movies in 2013. Not 13-you might want to check your facts before posting.
