The Kelly Clarkson photobomb that won the Grammys

Kelly Clarkson was without a doubt the life of the party at the Grammy Awards on Sunday. (Need more proof? See the above photobomb, in which she jumped into the shot with daytime talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi.)

While most stuck to their lines, Kelly Clarkson's joyful acceptance speech after winning the best pop vocal album Grammy should've won an award of its own.

She hugged everyone she could find on her way up to the stage, including Miranda Lambert, a show of affection that ended up creating a dress snafu.

Clarkson brushed it off playfully during her speech, saying, "I got stuck to Miranda Lambert, there's a story in a song, for later, after alcohol." She also gave a shout out to Fun. and Miguel, who performed his single "Adorn" during the ceremony.

"Miguel, I don't know who the hell you are, but we need to sing together," Clarkson said. "That was the sexiest damn thing I've ever seen."

Although her comment rubbed some the wrong way, all seemed to be swell between the two artists as they posed together at the show:

But better yet, Clarkson went on to nail her tribute to Carole King and Patti Page.

As Neil Patrick Harris put it:

We don't know about you, but we agree with Pink - Kelly Clarkson and Miguel, for the win:

The singer herself added on her Twitter account that she's ready to let loose after picking up her third Grammy:

Kelly is a true American talent and looks great even with those extra pounds. But, as cute and popular as she is, I can't see Kelly remaining a huge star should she gain another 20 pounds or so. Not that it's fair, but we're just a highly visual society and music videos/photo shoots are as important as her voice from a commercial perspective. Anyway, I would imagine that Kelly has more meaningful and lasting things (like starting a family) in her not-so-distant future. Of course, one can only imagine what Nashville country cooking and having kids will do to her figure.

Kelly Clarkson was the highlight of the Grammys. I watched for Clarkson. It has been way too long since she has won one. She has the best voice in music and deserves every award when she is nominated. Neil Patrick Harris is correct. She does have the best voice in the history of ever. She can sing every kind of genre. Her voice is very unique and recognizable immediately. Chilling and powerful. Down to earth and sweet. I cannot believe the rude comments on here. And some of these comments make no sense at all. Get a life you losers.

Just because these celebrities make alot of money, sing, act or are just famous by association, they are not NEWS.

READ something that actually matters !

Here is a news flash, regardless if ANY of these people ever showed their face on national news again the world would go on and, YOU will still be as dumb.

What a monumental waste of time keeping up with people you really know NOTHING about just because they are on TV and the radio.

I totally and completely agree with every word you said!!! Couldn't put it better myself. The idolatry that celebrities represent in this country is beyond ridiculous, and so are the people who idolize them. None of them have any lives that are worth putting in the media or in print constantly! Am so tired of all of them taking over the internet and telling menial tidbits like how many times they brush their teeth a day. They all should get a life and stay out of ours.

These people DO have lives, and careers they have worked long and very hard at to succeed. The hours of training, including instrumental and vocal, the auditions, finding the right management, support, agency and financial advice are just as much hard work as any other professional. And the rewards are far less reliably obtainable, with as much personal and financial investment as a doctor or lawyer.

The myth of the "overnight sensation" usually takes at least ten years of hard work, unless you have the unbelievable luck of someone like Justin Bieber, who from childhood has invested time and training of his raw talent under the tutelage of a successful performer and producer, who took him under his wing.

Regardless of your or my personal response to the music created by these performers, it is difficult work, no guarantee of success. You are just as likely to be playing for a church choir or in a hotel chain dinner club after years of training and sacrifice, as you are to be appearing at the Grammies.

So please do not disparage musicians until you have lived the life and applied the dedication they all have. Just enjoy the music that fits your taste, and support LIVE music, wherever it is performed, especially in our schools.

The problem with the American music scene these days is that it's filled with talentless, lip-syncing divas who spend more time working on dance moves, choreography and video/photo shoots than actually working on their voices. The managers, agents, promoters and radio stations usually determine a performers success. While Kelly Clarkson actually has real talent and has earned most of her success, she still has to work within and music and media industry that often doesn't reward talent. Somehow, I just can't see an overweight 35 year old Kelly Clarkson continuing on as a major pop star. Hopefully, she's investing all those royalty, concert and appearance checks wisely. Of course, she's marrying into wealthy country music royalty anyway.

I still find it surprising when a person thinks his or her taste in music is the absolute fact. If I had to listen to Florence and the Machine everyday, I would want to blow my brains out...but I still don't call her "crappy." Obviously lots of people like her. I think Clarkson has one of the best voices of our time. Just my opinion. Think Florence will be invited to sing the Star Spangled Banner at the Super Bowl next year? Or perform at the next inaguration? I think not.

It is fairly regular and pretty much just one of those things we cannot avoid, contrary to may common make-up product who promise us otherwise, that is going through what gasp! is natural and normal and no, dear readers, we need not fear it be perhaps even embrace it as part of life.

I'm a country fan and even I agree Taylor Swift can't sing (and her music isn't country music either). She appeals to just enough tweens to 20's girls across a wide spectrum of genres to be a sensation because she always sings about a breakup or getting together. Worthless drivel and all of her songs sound the same. I don't care for some of Clarkson's songs, but at least she can sing.

    • Jerry

Taylor Swift doesn't need to be able to sing – she's the best-lookin' woman to hit the industry since Faith Hill was young. Kelly Clarkson, who can be pretty darn cute in between her "chubby" years, has a voice even this pushin'-50 geezer has to admit is incredible. I stopped listening – at least voluntarily – to new "music", (which most of it isn't since the advent of rap & hip-hop!,) but 1 or 2 songs a year appeal to me enough to add them to my MP3 player: Kelly has 4 of those.

What is wrong with you people? Why are you picking on Ellen, Portia, and Kelly? What did they do to you? Kelly Clarkson has a great voice as evidenced by her performance at the President's Second Inauguration, Ellen DeGeneres is funny, honest, sincere, and a very entertaining host of her talk show, and Portia DeRossi is a good actress. She was hilarious in Arrested Development. Most of these comments have been lively but definitely not courteous as the CNN Rules of Conduct state. Grow up everyone!

In reply to sassysticks53 – I consider myself conservative but I actually love Ellen and think she's fantastic. Try not to be so stereotypical – not everyone that has the same beliefs, race, culture, etc. fit into such a small box.

sassysticks53 – I consider myself to be a conservative and I love Ellen because she is a good and decent person and my husband loves her as well. And I repsect her right to marry whomever she pleases and I am also pro-choice. So not all conservatives are completely right wings just as not all liberals are completely left wing. So glad Kelly won this award. Stronger was an amazing pop album. It had so many more potential radio hit singles. I don't know why her record label made her release a greatest hits album and the sub-par "Catch My Breath" instead.

I love Catch My Breath. I am so very happy Kelly released that song. It is an amazing song about her last 10 years. It is beautiful and has awesome lyrics. But I do think they had other great songs on Stronger that could have been released. Great album. I love Kelly's voice. It is chilling.

Yes, she has avoided the too-common distortions of heavy-handed injection of face fillers and Botox (though she has been Botoxed). Her face shows just enough signs of age to keep her looking natural.

Kelly is huge to be sure, but still looks great in her own cute way. Unfortunately, as a result of her move to Nashville and pending marriage into Country Music royalty, she's likely to consume lots of redneck country cooking and fast food during the years to come. I expect Kelly to continue to gain weight especially after having a baby or 2. And, as talented as she is, her commercial music "star" career will probably have run it's course in another 5 years or so. We're just too "visual" as a society.

  96. For Portia de Rossi

Portia de Rossi, if you or anyone who knows and likes you reads this:

You need a new aesthetic dermatologist. Your filler and Botox are distorting your face in a way that I recognize because I was well on my way to looking like that. Then I found a talented dermotologist with a fresh approach to liquid lifts. You don't need muppet lips and Spock eyebrows to look younger. The effect should be subtle.

I guess you mean because of their age. Yes, getting pregnant now would be unwise, even through artificial insemination (and the field of medicine let us know how THAT works). However, they can still adopt and raise a wonderful child together. A child who is loving, intelligent, and non-judgemental. Like God told us.

Sure they can, cr3tin. They can adopt or request the services of a male donor (see Melissa Etheridge). In any case, they'd be better parents than an intolerant troll like you.
