The Grammy Awards is typically the place where stars can let it all hang out, but CBS' Standards department is hoping to keep nudity to a minimum during this year's show.
According to Deadline, a wardrobe advisory memo was sent to Grammys contacts on Tuesday night, kindly asking them to remind those appearing on stage that breasts, butts and genitalia need to be covered up.
It sounds like they're going after the sideboob, too.
"Please be sure that buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered. Thong type costumes are problematic," the memo says, as confirmed by Entertainment Weekly. "Please avoid exposing bare fleshy under curves of the buttocks and buttock crack. Bare sides or under curvature of the breasts is also problematic."
CBS Standards and Practices has also asked that women avoid wearing sheer clothing lest their nipples show (we guess male nipples are OK?), and the memo also put in a request for "the genital region [to be] adequately covered so that there is no visible 'puffy' bare skin exposure."
Commercial brands and obscenities on clothing are no-nos, with the obscenity clause also being a guideline for those in the audience.
"Finally, The Network requests that any organized cause visibly spelled out on talent’s wardrobe be avoided," the memo concluded. "This would include lapel pins or any other form of accessory."
Well, at least they asked nicely. The Grammy Awards will air on CBS Sunday at 8 p.m. ET.
its right here...
Interesting that the network that airs such incredibly vulgar sitcoms, is so worried about how musicians dress. I am much less offended by beautiful uncovered bodies than I am by Alan Harper talking about mast*****ion.
totalling $4,567 and another totalling $123,4567--enjoy the rest of the day –
I think at next year's show someone should whip out a footlong d1ld0 and start waving it around.
how come it gets nervous when it walks around.....some talent still tingles inside.
As much of a fan of them as I am, tlts do NOT = talent
if i was in my 20's i would have banged him for spite
over the top...see u in the week
Well, this is probably a sensible precaution since the standard CBS demographic is now a 105 year old woman who owns a minimum of 73 cats. I'm pretty sure most of the CBS audience will be safely tucked into bed by 7:30 PM with a glass of warm milk and a double dose of Ambien. So they won't have to wonder why it is that Lawrence Welk didn't win any awards again this year.
Good for CBS to pull a moral code, since these "artists" do not have one. Little tired of the T&A fest on broadcast TV.
Alot of good the memo did to all the presenters and performers. Look at JLo's comment about not paying attention to the memo. She was just laughing at the whole idea!! And Katy Perry!!! GEEZ, why do they think they have to show their boobs, legs, butts, etc?
This year's show wasn't as good as the past 2-3 years. Not as good of performers, that's for sure. All those ridiculous rappers with their "Swap Meet" hats and baggy pants and Mr. T jewelry. Do they really think they look good? I sure don't. The songs were awful too.
speed and loud!!!! fina50 is gonna laugh her ass off!!!!! lol
does anyone know where it went thanks?
i feel again
close with weekend....
new song and close with a bang -THAT'S IT HAHAHAH

I love all these rants lol. Ask someone to cover up their genitals, ass crack and boobs before coming on your TV station and people act like they are requiring them to donate a kidney.
all will be great soon! love too all...
The continued airing of the GRAMMY'S on CBS appears – PROBLEMATIC
i love watching the grammies...enjoy the show and have fun
I love watching the GRAMMYS too, but this year's show sure didn't live up to past shows.
Not good talent this time, too much rap music and baggy pants and weird people.
I thought LL Cool Jay was a good host. But they could have left out his song at the end of the show. Remember last year's finale? with Paul McCartney and friends? That was GOOD !!!
Too much blabbing and non-singing these days. Don't like rap and hip-hop music. Some of the dresses were too revealing too. Didn't like that either.
can watch the grammies but she will wear what she wants too the ceremonies. thank you
If CBS doesn't want to host the Grammys, then they shouldn't host them – but don't issue a dress code that bans the only thing that gets viewers to watch the show.
give him the business...
Won't be watching. Bounce em' if you've got em'! :)
Me either, award shows seem pretty lame.
You aren't the stock trader gwats by chance I take it?
woogie...he's loves the stock market
how does applegate know you had a low cut shirt on?
why? cuz she's a hacker.
bring the whole darn neighborhood and wear low cut shirts...
Best looking gal in show business.
we do that all day long...
it looks awsome on her..she's very popular with the men now...
they are not all milky white...
to a show...
i want you too meet them...
everyone i know has big boobs...lights camera action for you right?
your gonna love it....
Great news!!. And if anyone of those "artists" come anyway and show azz and boobs, don't let them in!!!
this is life...people have azz and boobs...
its like you live your lives through blogging and actually believe it.
Artists will wear what they want. CBS is not your moma, and this people are grownups any way. CBS will have to point their cameras at faces only. to bad for them. I'll be watching the red carpet on E! anyway!
thanks for that news flash.
Say goodbye to your ratings without me
This is a creative type awards show. People aren't going to be wearing what most people call normal. Its entertainment. And now the clothing police are going to say, nope, too much boob showing. geez. grow up
At last something is left to the imagination!!! What a wonderful thing to be clothed decent! What an example we had set for our children and now there are standards!!! Grown women had to be told what is and what is not appropiate! Save the exposed for the bedroom. Finally.
she's just a little shy - then all of a sudden grrrrrrr
how is everyone?
Long overdue! Hope other award shows follow this as well.
I say, what's next? Virgins only? Madonna!
like u boo...see u soon.
U DA SHIZ, BOO BOO...I'MA GONNA HAFTA GIT ALL UP INSIDA THAT...
Who watches this crap? I haven't seen it for years and haven't missed a thing...
that dress is amazing...she should have worn and orange bra.
I AM CONFUSED.
Can someone post a picture of some people's "puffy parts"? I don't know where they are so I can cover them up. Are these involved with something that Sean Puff Daddy might have touched or played with? I see all the family on Honey Boo Boo have all of their puffy parts exposed every week on network TV. Where are my "puffy parts"? Where should they be? I need to see lots of pictures of these "puffy parts" to be sure I am not doing the wrong thing. Will some of you post links or memes of the correct "puffy parts" I need to hide? Thank you so much.
You want more clothes and more cover-ups? Well, there goes your ratings. so, sould they all just wear turtlenecks and pants? I bet all the dress designers are pretty upset about this. Besides, its probably too late for the warning. Most people already have outfits ready to go.
i ain't seen it either
Ain't watched in years and don't plan too.
Joder! Are we living in the middle ages? Decency on TV...blah blah blah. There are bigger problems in the world...
i agree. i do not like how beyonce or miley cyrus dress
She has nothing too hide from her lover but you do....how's luke and laura these days.
They'll probably all come naked now.
Tea Party Patriots from south to south and east to west are in a panic now that Sarah Palin has been broomed from Fake News. One has only to take a casual drive below the Mason-Dixon line to hear the sweet sound of bagger's heads exploding everywhere. POP... POP... POP !!
You, sir are obviously just another d@mn yankee with his head up his a$$.
Looks like I won't be watching
Pretty sad when grown adults have to be told how to dress. Just because some of the artists/stars/celebs have lots of money and fame doesn't mean they have class or an idea how to dress. No one needs to see a boob falling out a dress. There are enough boobs on stage who needs to see another one. Cover up. The mystery of whats underneath is a bigger turn on then showing it for everyone to see. As stated by others, some just want their 15 minutes of fame....do you hear me Kardashians! Ugghhh!
These "artists" have to dress provocatively....it distracts the viewer so they don't realize how little talent all of these "artists" have.
So true...so true!!
How sad for our culture that this is where we've ended up. No ethics. No morals. No decency. No class. And going further and further ' risque' just to gert another 15 minutes of fame, and some press. Don't these women and men realize that there is more mystery when covered than when everything is exposed?
Let the music spoke for the artists - Please more voice and MORE clothes !!!
Considering most of the so-called ' recording artists' have little or no talent to begin with many of them have to expose their body parts on TV just to get noticed.
Man...you can say THAT again!
Decency has been missing for decades.
And all of that brilliant music too. I can hardly wait.
Yeah, that stuff got you to the big dance, and we made a lot of money selling it, but cover up and let those fleshy parts have the night off for our pretentious tv show.
I don't really care for white women. Most seem lazy and whiny. Just my humble opinion though.
look how pretty she looks in that gown. very s8xy lady
try this photo.
for an I coffee? thanks.
CBS has a lot of nerve. They air the most salacious shows on network TV.
OK I'M GONNA POP OUT A BOMBASTIC POOP!
BE SURE TO COVER UP YOUR TURD'S PUFFY PARTS!
don't you wish you looked like her
does anyone own a hopper–i'm part desperado...
don't take its so personal...geeze...
I'm going to watch it while n ekked!
Maybe the prettier ladies won't wear tops at all to protest.
Yup, at least they asked nicely. Now, lets see who listens...lol!
spit, gross, yuck....
I wish they would all show up in coats with nothing underneath then pull them off while up in stage.
It sure would be great if none of the performers showed up and let CBS go on alone with their misplaced morals.
he's dating bongo the clown...what do i do...oh well i guess i'll break a drive.
I have that blouse i own them in 3 different colors
i just flip on my hopper so i can sing to everyone because i'm smarter then all of you.
Finally, some decency!! Too bad adults have to be told how to dress appropiately.
I agree. It seems that lately less is more for some of these actresses.
that's a gown not a dress....
I also agree. It would be nice to have one Grammy show that didn't have people dressing and acting like lowlifes.
