For his first concert performance in close to five years, Justin Timberlake came prepared.
The 32-year-old employed a 13-piece band and four backup singers as he performed a blend of his old hits and new offerings during a nearly two-hour pre-Super Bowl party on February 2.
Billboard reports that early favorites such as "Like I Love You," "Sexy/Back" and "My Love" were part of the set list, in addition to new songs that have been referred to as "Pusher Love Girl" and "That Girl."
Of course, he also performed his single with Jay-Z, "Suit & Tie." Hov, whose wife was preparing to shut down the halftime show the following evening, joined Timberlake on stage for that rendition.
It seems the set wasn't without a little controversy, though, as Us Weekly reports that an offhand remark from Timberlake had attendees at the DirecTV charity event buzzing. The artist reportedly said ahead of his performance of "Cry Me A River" that "sometimes in life, you think you found the one ... but then one day you find out that she is just some b***h."
But on Twitter, Timberlake appeared to clarify his remarks.
"Ok. I see you. Wouldn't disrespect ANYONE personally. Ever," the new Mr. Jessica Biel said Sunday afternoon. "#Relax #ItsBritney[B***h] I do love that saying though ... #Respect."
