The Screen Actors Guild Awards might want to look into providing a matchmaking service.
It turns out that was the case for Dick Van Dyke, who met his wife at the awards ceremony.
"First time I ever hit on a woman in my life!" the legendary entertainer told CNN on the SAG Awards red carpet. "I walked up to her and said, 'Hi, I'm Dick.' I don't think she knew who I was!"
It turns, out, she did - she just wasn't familiar with his work. Safe bet to say she is now, though, as Van Dyke is set to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the SAG ceremony.
"The only thing that bothers me is that they say after you get this award you never work again," Van Dyke joked. But in reality, after presenting to both Julie Andrews and Mary Tyler Moore in the past, "it's just the pinnacle for me. I've never dreamed it."
DVD is one of my heroes. Even at 87 he continues to give freely of his time and experience to the young people of our community. All the kids are in awe of "the chimney sweep" from Mary Poppins and his generosity.
i love him dearly and thought he was so funny . i love slapstick comedy.
she does buy everything we tell her....that's because she's a putz
I pooped on the first woman I hit on.
He married the first woman he ever hit on? Wow.
He was married for 36 years to his first wife Margie, divorcing after a long separation in 1984. He lived with longtime companion Michelle Triola until her death in 2009. And then he married Arlene Silver last year.
