Kelly Clarkson's Inauguration Day diary

After nailing her performance of "My Country, 'Tis of Thee" at the inauguration ceremony on Monday, Clarkson let her fans in on the backstage experience.

"I was incredibly nervous and cold ha!" the original "American Idol" posted of her performance yesterday. "What an honor to be a part of history! Obama's presence was powerful and his words unforgettable. It's a proud day for America!"

Clarkson, 30, got in a few photos with other famous faces, including fellow Texan Beyonce, who was there to sing the national anthem:

And, of course, Mr. President:

(This one didn't make her Twitter feed, but we're still laughing over the picture of former President Bill Clinton photobombing Clarkson.)

Later that night, Clarkson got red-carpet ready in Oscar de la Renta:

To enjoy the festivities with her fiancé, Brandon Blackstock:

And according to Clarkson, the First Lady makes an excellent host.

"Just partied at the White House ....I kid you not, Michelle Obama stood up and got the party started," Clarkson tweeted. "seriously cool First Lady."

Kelly Clarkson has the most gorgeous voice. She made America proud. Her voice gives me chills. She is a lovely role model for everyone. Powerhouse vocals and sweet as apple pie! Great job, Kelly!!!!

So, apparently if one wants to find the president, one only has to look for all of the celebrities that are popular with 20 year olds. Reminds me of my ex husband – he always liked name dropping, and hanging around with people younger, and far less intelligent, than he.
Is this really any way to run a country?

I saw a clip from a recent interview with NY Senator Charles Schumer, where he talked briefly about being a huge fan of Kelly Clarkson's. He became a big fan of hers and only afterward found out she'd been an American Idol winner. I myself am a big fan of Schumer's, and I found this revelation to be utterly delightful. If you'd asked me, I'd have said he must be a fan of Mozart, Puccini and George Ballanchine, or however he spells his name. But a fan of country music? Didn't see that one coming at all. Absolutely delightful that people are unpredictable.

Just because you do not care for the First Lady does not require you to be so rude. The First Lady is far from trash. However your comment might fit that description.
