If there's an upside to attending a major awards ceremony on your birthday, as Julia Louis-Dreyfus is tonight, it must be getting to wear Vera Wang.
But on the other hand, it doesn't leave a lot of room for celebratory feasting on cake.
The 52-year-old actress, who's nominated for a best performance by a lead actress in a TV comedy Golden Globe, said on the red carpet that she had a "little tiny piece of cake that was this big," as she demonstrated a tiny circle with her thumb and forefinger.
"I swear to God," Louis-Dreyfus told E!'s Giuliana Rancic, gesturing to her dress. "Look, this is a corset so I can’t mess around."
The "Veep" star isn't expecting to make any acceptance speeches on her special day, however.
"I do not have my speech ready because I’m not gonna win, so I hope that Lena Dunham or Amy Poehler has their speech ready," she said with a smile.
Dunham, who's nominated for the same award along with Golden Globes host Poehler, Tina Fey and Zooey Deschanel, will miss out on the premiere of her comedy series' second season in favor of attending the awards show.
"I am sad to be missing my ritual of eating my dumplings and going through responses," she told E!'s Ryan Seacrest, but she did promise that on tonight's episode "there's sex, there’s sharp objects, [although] not totally at the same time."
