Adele has top-selling album of the year ... againAdele's "Rolling" in album sales for the second year in a row. The Brit singer's sophomore record, "21," was the top-performing album of the year with 4.41 million copies sold, reports Billboard.
This is the second time she's pulled off the feat, as "21" was also the best-selling album of 2011. That year, 5.82 million copies of "21" were purchased. It's impressive, and it's also a record. This is the first time the same album has been the top seller in the United States two years in a row since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991. "21" first appeared on the Billboard 200 chart on March 21, 2011, and hasn't dropped out of the top 40 since. In second place for the best-selling album of 2012 was Taylor Swift with 3.11 million sold of her latest effort, "Red." Gotye, meanwhile, can lay claim to having the top-selling digital song of 2012 with "Somebody That I Used to Know," which sold 6.8 million copies. |

Rap as a genre is better than singer/songwriter to me. Adele is talented though, definitely the real deal. I respect that especially with all of the taylor swifts and rihannas out there these days.

Her music is actually about music, not radio plays. Its genuine and in concert breathtaking. Doesn't hurt she had a huge Grammy year at the beginning of 2012. So people got to know her all over again. She hasn't toured since then. She got married and had a kid. The other artists were just studio pop artists.

@Propervillain You're absolutely right. This is music at its best, for the day&age we live in. The awful mess they claim to be music, isn't! Adele raw somewhat raspy voice is calm, soothing, controlled, and elegant. She deserves it.
No she doesn't. All she does is say the same line over and over for 3.5 minutes. He voice is annoying and she has no skill. I'm the same way! And you don't see me singing. Adele, do us all a favor a go away.

I am glad to hear this. With the c r a p that passes for "music" these days (yes, I am talking to you talentless rap acts....) Adele is a breath of fresh air. Amazing voice, amazing songs. She's the real deal.

She's actually very attractive, but she chooses to look like a 40-year old divorcee circa 1964. I don't get it, but I don't understand why people have to be so mean and say stuff about what she looks like.. And she has lost weight, but I think the power of her voice, not unlike many singers, is partially due to her size. Overall, for a woman her age who came from such poverty to sit down in a relatively short period of time and writeso many songs that topped the chart and won her numerous awards is beyond impressive.
