Rihanna gives hefty donation to Barbados hospitalRihanna has opened her heart and her wallet this holiday season with a $1 million-plus donation to a hospital in Barbados. According to E! News, the "Diamonds" singer gave $1.75 million to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Bridgetown in honor of her late grandmother, Clara "Dolly" Braithwaite, whom Rihanna called "Gran Gran Dolly." "This was my way of giving back to Barbados, in a form of philanthropy, by assisting the QEH in its continued modernization program," Rihanna said in a statement to E!. "I believe that this will have a huge impact on the people of Barbados. This was all done to save lives, or at least extend them." With the 24-year-old's donation, the hospital's radiotherapy department has purchased much needed equipment. It is now called the Clara Braithwaite Centre for Oncology and Nuclear Medicine in memory of Rihanna's grandmother, who passed away in June after battling cancer. |

Thanks Rihanna. This brought a tear to my eye. Very much appreciated. Love and continued success for an amazing Bajan woman.
That's a really generous thing to do. And to all the people who think she wants the spotlight, you're wrong. She doesn't need it because she's famous and popular already. Charity can come from the heart you know.
THAT WAS SO GREAT OF YOU RIHANNA...
She donated her forehead as a medical helipad.
This is the kind of story I like to read.
that was very nice of you rihanna
And she had to announce this to get some more spotlight.
No. CNN decided to print it, jealous hater!
