The full trailer for Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel" landed on Tuesday, displaying the heart and grandeur we can expect when it opens June 14.
The clip begins with a young Clark Kent learning the rough lesson that his superhuman abilities aren't meant to be used openly.
"You have to keep this side of yourself a secret," Clark Kent's adoptive father, played by Kevin Costner, tells him after he saves a bus that crashed into a body of water.
Later, we see that an adult Clark Kent, portrayed by Henry Cavill, questioning if the world was ready for him.
As he dons the familiar Superman suit and shoots around the world - pausing once to lock eyes with Amy Adams' Lois Lane - he says, "My father believed that if the world found out who I really was, they'd reject me. He was convinced that the world wasn't ready. What do you think?"
go home. your not feeling well again.
Superman is a John Carter rip-off!
really? I see the whole beginning of Season 1 and Smallville. Its like, by the script. from where jon schneider tells whats his name, he was in THE FOG, and where WE see KOSTNER do the same thing to that Little boy around the truck.
about the SECRET.
He's just another shmoe on his own planet (it it hadnt blown up). He has no real powers other that what the lesser gravitational effects of this planet provide him with. never thought he was a good example of "superhero". I will grant that his actions are what make him a 'hero' but then again Im trying to justify something that doesnt actually exist...oh yeah, thats why Im not a nerd...i forgot
Meh,super hero stuff is pretty lame, and Superman has been remade, and remade to death,sheesh........
Geez, all Hollywood has to do now is keep remaking superhero movies every couple of years; that way it'll never have to worry about being creative again...
he is the man of steel-hands down
Well, I've heard people give all kinds of reasons either for or against this version of Superman. I'm all for it!!! This movie is what a Superman movie should look like. Bear in mind...I think everyone who keeps bashing the "dumped the boyscout" view are premature. Even though he is Superman, he wasn't born with the knowledge that all the comics give him credence for. Sure, he may not be the boy scout we've known him to be in this film, but that doesn't mean he won't become more like that in the sequels that will follow. The movie hasn't even come out yet and people criticize it as though they sat at the screening. That's a really stupid, foolish, and pretentious position to take. The trailer is awesome and I believe does justice to the franchise. Superman represents what every man wants to be...even if he has his faults...there's nothing like having that kind of power and reputation that come with being Superman.
Well Said! I couldn't have said it myself!
hands down girlfriend
I can't help but think about our other beloved superman (Christopher Reeves). This might be good. I will try not to compare. That they are bringing him from a different angle is very smart. RIP to one and Long live to the other. Superman/Man of Steel
I love Supes and it makes me upset that people don't understand how lonely and conflicted he is BECAUSE of his powers. They think that because he is virtually a god that he is boring. But because he has the abilities of a God and the heart of a man, he is constantly torn between his Kryptonian nature and his love for his adopted planet. In many ways Supes is more human than all the other superheroes in the way he fights so passionately for a race that scorns him. This trailer indicates that the movie will focus more on that inner turmoil especially since the world this Supes is living in is more serious and realistic than past Superman films.

Meh. Superman is boring.
As a virtual demigod, he rarely seems in any real danger and they tend to just make up powers for him as needed–and the ones he has are wildly inconsistent. Give me a Batman or Spiderman any day.
When did Superman become such s gay h0 m0phobe?
when he stoped wearing his underwear on the outside of his unitard
Incredible! We always have seen it just assumed that everyone would accept Superman, but if someone emerged with his powers, we would be terrified. That said, it is also important to examine what makes him choose to serve instead of choosing to rule, like Zod. Superman is unbelievably powerful. Armies cannot hope to contain him, yet he chooses not to dominate. This is one of the most incredible aspects of his character. Ordinary people cannot hope to understand him, though. He has to use so much restraint and the powers on display are usually a mere fraction of what he is capable of.
This looks like a fascinating examination of what Clark had to deal with in discovering his powers and why he became Superman. Based on the released image and trailer, we also see that he allows himself to be taken prisoner, likely because his appearance sparked great fear.
Too bad we get General Zod again. That character is as tired as Luthor. Looking forward to seeing this interpretation of Superman.
I could be wrong, Jeff, but you seem more optimistic and thought-provoking than Dave; although, he's obviously an authority on his chosen topic..
Yet Batman constantly pwns him in the comics.
