Lenny Kravitz to play Marvin Gaye in biopicLenny Kravitz isn't playing around with his acting career. The 48-year-old rocker has signed on to portray soul/R&B legend Marvin Gaye in an upcoming biopic, his rep has confirmed to CNN.
The project will be directed by Julien Temple ("The Filth and the Fury"; "Bullet"), and is slated to begin filming in 2013. Reports of Kravitz's latest project began circulating earlier this month after The London Evening Standard made note of the role. According to the paper, Temple's biopic will chronicle Gaye's later years in the early 1980s when he was in Europe battling addiction and refreshing his career. This will be Kravitz's first lead, although he's been steadily snapping up memorable supporting roles over the past few years, including a gig in 2009's "Precious" and 2012's "The Hunger Games." In addition to the Marvin Gaye biopic, Kravitz will again appear as the stylist Cinna in "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" next November, and in Lee Daniels' "The Butler," which is also slated to arrive next year. |

What sycophant will play Lenny?
Lenny is a wonderful choice for this project. I have questions (and strong cultural concerns) about Zoe Saldana ALLOWING herself to be "dark-faced" in order to play Nina Simone.
i love lenny kravitz
He looks damn good for his age.
Love Lenny Kravitz, but wasn't Jesse L. Martin supposed to play Marvin Gaye in a biopic like 2 years ago? He would have been more perfect than Kravitz.
Now, this man has talent.
I just love Lenny...good for him. I am glad he is doing well.
That's pretty cool. I would see it.
he puts on great show and he's still cool.
Lenny Kravitz is a perfect fit for this role! Both he and Gaye have/had so much talent it's unbelievable; so glad they share it with the world, they both make my musical life rich and wonderful.
This man is so hot! Ain't that right, girls?
No. He is too black.
I thought you liked all colors, vixen. As long as they pay, right? lmao at your p iss poor trolling.
He should stick to music.
Lenny Kravitz is to old to play a young Marvin Gaye,Usher should have that role.I think he would be more convincing and would attract a larger audience.
It stated in the article that the movie would chronicle Marvin Gaye's later years, Lenny doesn't have to be young to do that.
