We got down to the top 10 this week on "The Voice," and I'm definitely invested in quite a few of the singers this season.
Tuesday night's episode saw the loss of two more contestants, and in yet another interesting twist, the live show eliminations have been based purely on overall viewer votes (along with iTunes purchases).
In a season where we also saw "the steal" make a big impact, you have to admire a successful show that continues to tweak its format for the better.
The result is that the teams end up somewhat lopsided in number, but I'd rather see that then see a talented performer out of the competition simply based on their team.
And so it was Team Christina this week which ended up with the short end of the stick (good thing they got her team performance out of the way). I can't say I was a big fan of Sylvia Yacoub, outside of her rendition last week of "My Heart Will Go On." On the other hand, Dez Duron hasn't stood out for me either.
On the other end of the spectrum, Cee Lo Green's team remained intact, with Nicholas David, Trevin Hunt and Cody Belew surviving to sing another day.
Cody certainly made his mark this week with what Christina dubbed a "true diva" performance of "Crazy in Love."
However, I felt there was more flash than "voice" here.
My favorite from Team Cee Lo is Nicholas David. As Blake Shelton pointed out, it was like watching a "legend" perform. If he won, it would certainly be a victory for unique voices.
Team Blake also survived this week's elimination, with Terry McDermott's charming personality overshadowing the fact that he does classic rock every single week. Blake needs to shake things up, and I'm speaking as a big fan of Terry - a.k.a., he-who-mugs-for-the-camera-when-nervous.
Cassadee Pope sang "Over You," a song Blake co-wrote with his wife Miranda Lambert, and earned herself a spot at the top of the iTunes charts. It was no surprise that she was safe, but it didn't hurt that it was her best moment on the show to date.
From Team Adam, Melanie Martinez also had her best night of the season on Monday, and she charted in the iTunes top 10 as well with "Seven Nation Army."
Could it be that Adam Levine's gamble on this young artist, whose look is a cross between Minnie Mouse and Cruella DeVille, has paid off? If the point of "The Voice" is to see artists mature through the season, Melanie has certainly done that.
So, with Bryan Keith and Amanda Brown left, which one would be out from Team Adam? I wasn't feeling Bryan's rendition of "New York State of Mind," so I was happy to see that Amanda was safe. After all, she was the one the other coaches fought to steal away from Cee Lo.
Now Adam has two artists left that he'll have to fight to keep on the show. It should be a very interesting few weeks on "The Voice."

do you want to connect to the show tonight?
The numbers are dropping little by little and the remaining contestants need to do their best to remain in the game. I think this latest episode of The Voice was great, and it’s my favorite show on primetime. The Voice continues to be my favorite primetime show, and I’m glad my coworker at DISH told me to check it out. Since I work at night, I depend on my DISH Hopper DVR to get all my favorite primetime shows recorded, which’s what I mainly watch. The PrimeTime Anytime feature will record all four major networks every night, so I get all my favorite shows and then some. I don’t have to worry about timers or conflicts and it’s so easy to play back all my shows.
we love these children and they are all talented - they must be under so much stress right now.
Brian Keith and Syvia should not have gone home. Brians voice is amazing. Dez, Michelle, Cody, and Nick should have gone before these two. The show is the voice. I guess if they changed their appearance (added more tatoos/wear a ski hat and died there hair interesting colors they could have made it through or of course been drop dead georgous like Dez.
try getting their names right, there is no michelle. you clearly are not paying much attention.
I vote for the one with the big boobs.

what a fun few months i've had.
these poor kids are afraid, trying to sing well, trying to win, afraid of the audience judging them...its alot of pressure, i wish all these kids could win.
i've had a fun few months...hearing myself again..very funny. i'm stepping in for a woman who's mom very sick.
i did my number last night and my highschool friends went berserk with applause. i need alot of lung /aircapacity for this number so i have to be careful today.
i'm not sure if i would be able to compete on a show like this. i commend all these kids for their strength and what they are going through right now.
