On December 12, some holiday cheer and goodwill will be spread to those suffering from the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy.
The Madison Square Garden Company, the Weinstein company and Clear Channel have partnered to throw a benefit concert, called "12-12-12," at New York's Madison Square Garden that Wednesday.
The lineup thus far includes Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Jon Bon Jovi, Kanye West, Billy Joel, The Who, Alicia Keys, and Roger Waters, with more to be announced.
The Weinstein Company's Harvey Weinstein is serving as event producer along with John Sykes and James Dolan. The three said in a statement that they expect "12-12-12" to be a "showcase of music royalty."
The one-night-only concert will benefit the Robin Hood Relief Fund in an effort to help those picking up the wreckage Sandy left behind in the tri-state area.
"The response from the entertainment community to help those most affected by Sandy has been nothing short of astounding," Dolan, Weinstein and Sykes said in the statement. "We expect to announce additional legendary performers in the near future and we are confident that the event will ensure those in need will not be forgotten, and vital aid will be directed to rebuilding our communities along the East Coast."
As we inch closer to December 12, expect to hear more about ticket sales and prices, as well as telecast information.
