After getting a taste of director Sam Raimi’s “Oz: The Great and Powerful,” a new, longer trailer for the James Franco vehicle has hit the Web.
Like the teaser trailer that debuted in July - and, of course, 1939’s “The Wizard of Oz” - the trailer starts out in black-and-white Kansas before arriving in the colorful land of Oz.
There, Franco’s Oz meets a woman (Mila Kunis) who identifies herself as “Theodora, the good witch."
“You don’t know much about witches, do you?” she retorts after Oz asks where her broom is.
From there we get a glimpse of the Emerald City, some talking crows and a meeting with witch No. 2, Theodora’s sister Evanora, played by Rachel Weisz.
Evanora, who appears to go up against Michelle Williams’ Glinda (witch No. 3) in a magical duel, promises Oz a fortune if he can defeat the wicked witch.
With help from his friends, which include a flying monkey and a porcelain doll (voiced by Zach Braff and young actress Joey King, respectively), Oz sets out to achieve greatness.
What do you think of the official trailer, released by Disney UK on Wednesday? Will you see “Oz: The Great and Powerful” when it opens in theaters on March 8, 2013?
