'The Big Bang Theory' casts Bernadette’s mom

We’ve met Beverly Hofstadter and Mary Cooper, we’ve video chatted with Mrs. Koothrappali, and we’ve heard Mrs. Wolowitz’s voice boom through our TVs.

Now “The Big Bang Theory” is introducing us to Bernadette’s mother, to be played by Meagen Fay on an upcoming episode, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Fay is the latest “Roseanne” actress to appear on the CBS sitcom. (Laurie Metcalf and Sara Gilbert have played Sheldon Cooper’s mom Mary and experimental physicist Leslie Winkle, respectively.)

Casey Sander will also revisit his role as Bernadette’s ex-military dad on the December 6 episode.

What do you think of Fay as Bernie’s mom?

My wife and I have been long term watchers of big bang. It has started to go down hill. We have watched Sheldon and Penny be friends then boyfriend and girlfriend then break out then back together. I think it would be great if Sheldon and Amy would have a child. It could be artifical insemination. Sheldon dealing with a pregnancy and then an infant would be great. The marriage, discussion of having a child who would be perfect, deciding how to have a child, what the deal would be for marriage, the honeymoon. Sheldon is the star of the show and he needs to be developed more.

I am sure that the actor selected for the role of Bernadette's mom will be great. Respectfully though, my first thought was to approach Carol Kane for the part.

Megan Fay is actually a good physical match to play Bernadettes mother, facial shape, colloration etc. She is also capable of being quite funny. One of my favorite shows and I thinks she will be an asset. Good luck ms. Fay

I looked up Meagen Fay on IMDB. What the article doesn't mention is her very long list of credits. I don't remember her from Roseanne but rather from Malcolm in the Middle. She is quite an accomplished actress. On another note, Big Bang is my favorite TV show. Its hilarious and Kaley is adorable.

I used to like this show. It clearly had one and then two aspergers charccters, though they didn't identify as such.
But the show started getting mean, and picking on the charectors I liked best.
The last episode I saw had one of the "nerds" confront a childhood bully, only to be bullied by him some more. It ended with Sheldon and the other guy being chased down the streets, and this was played for laughs. I would have been screaming as loud as I could, They acted as if this was normal. After that, I concluded that the show was not funny anymore. Instead of the samrt kids gaining control, the show was showing them being retraumatized, and I'm sure that some of the kids watching felt retraumatizeded as well.

Oh come on, get over it. I was bullied as a kid, pushed around on the school bus, hit, had stuff thrown at me and called names on a daily basis. Time for you to grow up and move on. We are growing into a nation of whiney "pity poor mes". People who have truly been brutalized need the sympathy, but for what is passing as bullying in this country is nothing more than harrassment. When are we going to stop teaching our kids that life is fair or that everyone is a "winner" in everything? Life is tough, buck up people.

One of the nerds can be any one of 7 characters...but I'll let that part go. I hope you realize every episoode can't be "revenge of the nerds," In this case you are referring to Leonard and Sheldon. I cant imagine anything more realistic than an aspergers person confronting a simplistic alpha male and having it end in violence (or their emphatic avoidance of it). That's exactly how it goes in real life...except the nerds usually arent fast enough to get away, hense leonard's "I owe Penny" face tattoo. Im sorry that this brings back traumatic memories for you, to be honest I spent a good deal of time avoiding physical altercations in school, but I understand how the world works and so nothing people do suprises me anymore. If people werent inherently simple and prone to violence, Romeny wouldn't have had 44 million votes. Do you really think the bouncer type characters have to say " wow I never thought of it that way" That's the after-school-special style ending, and nothing makes me more sick to my stomach to see all that Barney the dinosaur nicey-nice nonsense. The world is brutal and people are right there with it in full stride, cutting you off in traffic, cutting you in the deli line and they give you that "what are you going to do about it?" look. Ethan try living in NJ for a week and I bet people seem downright friendly where you are. Please dont hold it against a sitcom (among the least realistic of TV shows next to reality TV or history channel's ancient alien malarkey) when they finally show a realistic reaction. There's a reason aspergers people dont fit in...because they don't. As intelligent as some of them are (and if you include leonard's mom there are 3 in the show) they are totally aloof as to the emotional states of their fellow characters. Shelldon regularly shoots in the dark because he doesnt understand figurative language. It truly is a devastating learning and social disability. If it wasnt for sheldon's idenic memory he'd be working at a grocery store bagging sundries. Im sure he'd do it in a most particular way....Im suprised u also failed to notice that the whole point of the show is Leonard's persuit of the brass ring: Penny, who is a "normie," but is literally the leftovers of all of those alpha males who we detest. In the first season over a dozen guys go in and out of her apt, including 2 who make recurring appearances to be the antagonistic bullies of our heroes. Priya is smarter and prettier than penny, but she doesn't treat leonard particularly well. Even when Leonard (charlie brown) catches a break, he really doesnt. That's the saddest part. He's fighting for scraps...and we're rooting for him. Go Leonard get that stupid naive blonde...(starts with S rhymes with mutt) across the hall. Is that really as good as it gets for him? I hope his character wears a condom.

People don't read very well. It very clearly says "Bernadette's mom," not "Mrs. Wolowitz." Mrs, Wolowitz (Howard's mother, not Bernadette) will probably never be seen, like Frasier's Maris or Cheers's Vera.

I'm sure she'll be another oddball. Chuck Lorre must have had a terrible childhood. Have you noticed, ALL of the mothers on ALL of his shows: Dharma and Greg, Mike and Molly, Two and a Half Men, and the Big Bang Theory. ALL of them are far less than perfect. No Mrs. Beaver or Nelson here.
