RZA talks 'Iron Fists' and Elton JohnEnjoy Elton John? Then you have something in common with RZA, a founding member of the legendary rap group Wu-Tang Clan and a huge fan of the British singer/songwriter. “Elton John makes some great music,” RZA told CNN in a recent interview. He even admitted to listening to “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” at least 10 times a day while creating “The Man with the Iron Fists," the just-released film that RZA co-wrote, directed and performs in.
“I don’t know if it was because I was away from my mother, my family and everybody else, but ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ is one of my favorite songs.” If one thing's certain, it’s that you can expect the unexpected from the longtime rapper and martial arts enthusiast. You can see this in the unique way RZA honors deceased Wu-Tang member Ol' Dirty Bastard. “[ODB] continues to inspire me,” he began. “In ‘The Man with the Iron Fists,’ we actually got Russell Crowe to study ODB as a character … and so in the film, he takes on some Ol' Dirty Bastard traits that were pretty interesting.” Watch his iReport interview to learn more about the legendary rapper’s views, including whether he feels it’s time to transition into a film career.
